9/18: Ono - Feyenoord vs. Juventus [R] UEFA Champions League - Matchday 1 - Group E 2:45pm EST Wednesday, 19 September de Kuip
Oh yeah!!! I get live broadcast by SBS in Australia!!!!!!!! Good luck to Ono and Song!!!!!! To Champions League!!!
Will they start Song for this one, or is a match against the great Juventus too much pressure? But hey, why not? After all, it is an ITALIAN team (heh heh heh).
Feyenoord's coach already said he wanted to play the same team as in the game against Twente (BTW Ono was the best man on the field, he got 8.5 out of 10 by the biggest Dutch newspaper, Song was 3rd best with a 7.5 (which is normally more than enough to get MVP...). So I'm positive he would play. He may play on a different position though, Feyenoord's captain may miss the match because of sad family circumstances... A possibility is that Emerton takes Bosvelt position, with Song playing as a back.
as noobiedeluxe pointed out Juve will lose to Feeyenoord because I don't think the Italians understand that they will never beat Korea(ns) in anything. FORZA ITALI~A. They'll need all the luck they can get
I've been looking for where I can find those player rating online. I already heard Ono got 8.5 but can't find the article yet.
For the game against FC Twente If you want to see how the other teams rated (click on the result should get you there...
thanks, this was more than enough. too bad i can't understand the language, but at least i can read the numbers.
FT 1-1. http://www.soccernet.com/championsleague/2002/20020918/reports/62539_full.html anyone watched the game? sounds like juve played better.
http://www.feyenoord.net/ratings.shtml Feyenoord 1 Juventus 1 Zoetebier 7 Some amazing saves Gyan ?5.5 Couldn't cope with the pace Kalou ?6.5 His great rush led to Van Hooijdonk's crucial free kick. Van Wonderen 6 How can such an experienced player be so nervous? Paauwe 6.5 His 'slow' feet get him into trouble in matches such as these Van Haaren 5.5 Improved a bit in the second half, but barely knew where he was in the first Emerton 6.5 He plays for his own glory too much Ono 8 Coped well with the massive weight on his shoulders Song 7 A bit naive at times, but he is so effective on the ball Pardo ?6 Yeah Sebastian, that's something else huh? Bombarda ?- He'll be very useful in the course of this season Buffel 7 He is still learning, but should have scored from Song's cross Van Hooijdonk 7 He did it again! Van Marwijk 8 Seemed a bit disappointed afterwards
that's what I hear too. But I heard Song, Ono and Van Hooijdonk were "flying" (as the Koreans say) throughout the match by the ones who watched the game. Song has made 3~4 crucial crosses which the fowards couldn't capitalize. Ono, as the rating shows, seems to have played awesome too. It seems like most Song fans are still talking about the scene which Song "striped" the ball from Edgar Davids after the hustling.
Juve's a good team. There's no shame in getting a draw against them. Now it's time to concentrate on the 2 other teams.
I watched this match. I was totally impressed by Song. I am not by any means convinced that the Korean Nats are as good as their WC performance, but I've had my eye on Song since the US/Korea Gold CUp match when he lasered the goal on Keller Song had at least 5 crosses that cause great chances, and 2 in particular that were just van Hooijdonk and Buffel just need to tap in, but missed shot them. He terrorized Tacchinardi and Birrindelli. At one point Birrindelli fouled him after he got by him, and when he got back up, he shoved him again...Song shoved backed and then they got separated by the ref. It was pretty funny Ok for the Feyenoord goal, if you didnt watch it, it was actually one of the funniest things I have ever seen in a soccer match. Seeing as van Hooijdonk has one of the world's best free kicks, when the foul was first called about a foot outside the penalty are, Juve put ALL 10 field players in the wall. The ref kept yelling and yelling at the Juve players to get back and everytime he walked away, half of them would move forward. So after about 5 or 6 warnings, van hooijdonk took the kick, got defelected off the wall and out of play. The ref whistled, and carded Nedved and reset the kick. Same thing happened...everyone moved up, told them to get back etc...took the kick again, blocked out of play... This time, it's Fresi that gets carded. Now Buffon, is livid, runs over to the ref, and yelled right in his face, i could see the spit everywhere, it was hilarious. So now, the Juve players get back in the wall, all ten of them, and Van hooijdonk gets up, takes the kick, and scores. The place erupted, and half the team went to the ref and looked like they were going to just beat the crap out of him. Buffon went over and kicked the goal post so hard that he dented it. LOL, I love watching Italian teams
Since you live in Chicago, why don't you go to one of the soccer pubs in the city? It shouldn't be too hard to get EPL or UEFA Cup matches. Try this link: http://soccertv.com/pubs.cfm
I'll be happy to tape any match for anyone as long as I get a tape in return. The only CL games I'm getting is one a week with the Italian teams, as well as all the UEFA Cup with the Italian teams... I'm trying to build up my US nats collection...Also want the 1996 MLS Cup match... PM me in advance if you want to set something up
I read a little about Oliver's antics and I avoid his site if at all possible but I can't find that soccer pub thread. The link used to be on the first page.
