No it's not a grey area. Religion and science are not on the same level and should never be considered as such. It's not an area where we should be objective, thats the problem. Method of analysis/proof based theories make believe. Pretty simple.

Acquired knowledge over time VS. the supernatural/spirit/unknown.
    One requires solid questioning/hypothesizing/disproving/proving.
The other only requires a leap of faith... a giant one at that.

Does our body (matter) decompose into earth then billions of years from now destructs, forms into an altogether entirely different matter potentially life supporting, evolves into human species and repeats the cycle? Wish we all knew. It is pretty clear where the body and mind return in the end, but the spirit is unquantifiable at this point. Is it purely the last hope for mankind to accept death or is it truly a wandering star (hypothetical, not literal) of sorts?

Exactly. And until we know what's the point of keeping some ancient fairytale around? It's just so silly.

to convince the weak, that accepting less than mediocre and becoming somewhat submissive for a lifetime isn't so bad, that there is a "better" life to look forward to after death ;)

The naivety is strong with this one.

If we were to revert to such a feudalistic way of thinking, you'd become much more intimate with the defintion of serfdom.

Personally I see no problem with religion as long as it is non-violent.

Amen. More bloodshed over religious beliefs than in world domination or civil war.

I'm pretty sure science and scientists are "innocent"...it is what politicians or terrorists around the world do with that information that makes the "discoveries" dangerous.

Well, in the end, religion was written by man, just claimed to be "the word" of God. But when you have scriptures saying that those that believe "differently" will go to hell, well, then there is your problem.

When religion encourages slavery, genocide and murder...then it is in itself evil. Read the Old Testament, it is filled with it.

Man invented God, but we didn't invent gravity.

    LOL
we are going back to square one ...
you guys are forcing the people to believe that science is the answer to everything... Science similar to religion have evil side to it as you can easily use science to do whatever your mind wants to do (slavery/genocide/murder)... does that mean we should drop science because it can be used for evil ?

    According to man, the Bible is the word of God. The bible says;

Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)

A priest's daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death. (Leviticus 21:9 NAB)

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

If a man still prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall say to him, "You shall not live, because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord." When he prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall thrust him through. (Zechariah 13:3 NAB)

If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you. You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)

That is religion telling you that it is ok, and actually encourages you to kill those that see things differently than you do. So, yes...they speak of peace, as long as you do as they say and worship as they do.

Science doesn't say anything other than, "This shit is heavy, therefore it will fall at this speed and rate."
