    40 here ;)

Well I may never get to wear my King SLs. Had an MRI and X-ray on both ankles today. Heard whispers between the technicians about small ligament tears :( will get the full diagnosis from the sports doc next week.

I blame wearing FG Vapors on a new turf pitch. I thought I had just sprained them both in that game.

I guess I may not have to worry about dirtying the white leather...

I think about this all the time and to be honest it freaks me out. I wonder how much longer do I have to play? Can I go on until I'm 40? If I do will I suck at 40? Am I going to be that dude who should be playing in the over 30s but instead is trying to keep up with these young kids?

There's no shame in over 30s! I see some wiley old men in those leagues! I have a friend who's father is mid to late 50s, he STILL is playing with his knees in braces... he's not bad either! Gives me hope....

dont worry about what they said as when i was 19 i went to get a mri scan on my knee and over heard them saying "he has terminal cancer"!!. i was shiting myself but it was another patient. i had nothing wrong with my knees just very lax joints so need to stiffen them up.

I just turned 30.....I often get mistaken for a student/player at the college where I coach. That is nice considering it is a two year school and most of the people there are between the ages of 18 and 21. As for the guys that are getting "older", don't worry too much. Age is only a number that you use to measure your time on earth, it is not indicative of your physical ability if you treat yourself right.
Look at guys like Mark Sisson or Tony Horton; they are in their 50's and they are crazy fit, highly motivated, and very healthy. You just have to take care of yourself; if you do that you will greatly increase the odds of having a long life both athletically and in general.

My biggest suggestion is follow the dietary advice of Mark Sisson if you want to keep fit and healthy; his Primal Blueprint is the way to go, IMO. I like a lot of the stuff Tony Horton suggests as well, but he is too grain and bean heavy for my liking, but he is a former vegan so I get where he is coming from with that. Both guys tout whole and natural foods, no gluten, minimal alcohol, label reading, and avoiding processed junk. Mark just focuses on getting energy from fats, primarily and using inoffensive carbs as a back up or addition for those of us that go hard athletically; Tony tends to endorse more things that the Paleo community generally dislikes (gluten free grains, beans and so on), but he also rails against the SAD (Standard American Diet) way of eating. If you can't get down with Paleo or Primal, I say Tony's method is the next best thing. Google both their names for their blogs, and their books.

To keep this Puma related, Falcao's EvoSpeed's are closer to a King SL than the actual EvoSpeed.

I am sure you will come out of it ok; never listen to the techs. They shouldn't be saying anything as they are not qualified to read an MRI, just administer them. Your doc will tell you, and the MRI should also have been read by a second doctor before being reviewed by you and your main doctor.

If you have an ankle ligament tear the MRI will see it, not the x-ray (they just show bone); even if you tore it or both of them, you can recover easily. It is a couple months out, at best if there is no surgery needed. Just do the rehab if they think you need it, that will make a huge difference.

Also see my post about diet above this one; if you are grain heavy ditching them will reduce inflammation in your body and joints that could hinder your progress.

I am 29 and run faster, longer, and more often than anybody on the pitch since going on my low-sodium diet. Every four days or so, I make a big-ass pot of Chicken soup (9qts, about 5-lbs of chicken, 2-bags of whole grain noodles, chopped carrots, seasonings, and some vegetable oil). Also eat home-made granola bars, scrambled eggs, omlettes etc and store-bought ice-cream. The high-sodium content in most prepared foods for sale pushes up your blood pressure, making it so your heart has to work harder through-out the day just to pump blood through your body. Very-low sodium diet allows your heart to do less work just to keep you alive and it will have more energy when you need it on the field. I can be rocket fast on the field. It's feels like cheating. If I go horribly off-diet, then it shows the next day. Going back on diet, and the benefits are are noticeable after about 36-hrs.

Big Puma Fan here - my 2nd pair of 2.10(i)'s just split open at the end of my game friday night. Thank God they waited until the end of a great week before tearing, but God it was sad. It was like losing a child. Now I am trying to refrain from spending $500 on new Evospeeds, 1.12k, and 1.11sl. Just found a deal $135 + freeshipping on Evospeed 1, kangaroo leather. Must refrain...trying to wait until black friday sales.

I agree on the processed foods bit, but of all ingredients sodium the one I tend to worry about the least. I find it to be the least offensive of the offensive. Per your diet, I am glad you found something that works for you; personally I would avoid veggie oil and whole grain noodles. Both are overly processed in and of themselves; the grains are worse for your heart and body than processed sodium, and I would bet there are some freaky things like HFCS in there. I would look at rice noodles or just plain rice in place of the whole grain noodles. Veggie oil is also pretty bad for you, despite fallacious conventional wisdom saying other wise It is rancid and processed fat with a lot of bad things in there. You would be better off with olive oil if you are going the whole/natural route.

Just to wrap this up, I wanted to report back that in my right ankle I have slight tear to the anterior talofibular ligament and a strain to the calcaneofibular ligament. I have strains to both the anterior talofibular ligament and calcaneofibular ligament in my left ankle. No surgery but I'm about to start physiotherapy. If that doesn't work I need to take a solid month off. Both twisted ankles were a direct result of my blades getting caught in brand new 3G turf.

Oh, and I'm playing tonight...carrying my gear in a Puma bag (to keep things somewhat on topic here).

Are women's boots just smaller? Or different in other ways like width being narrower in comparison to men's boots?
