pretty cool, Adidas have just launched a competition to design a pair of Adizeros that Messi will wear in december (seems odd as the Adizero 3 will begin publicity in November...) http://goalsandgear.com/2012/10/25/design-messis-adizero/
I think that's a mistranslation on the video, the press release says it's part of 'Next Gen Weekend', which will be the first weekend in November, leaving a couple of weeks before the new F50's are due for reveal.
D-d-d-double post! The plot thickens: The Next Gen Weekend will land in November, but Messi won't use his boots until December - maybe they're holding off having him 'upgrade' so they can launch the Messi-signature colourway a month or so after the initial launch?
Just wondering if anyone has run across any of the original f50s (leather on the front, synthetic on the rest of the boot behind the top box, covered laces under the tongue). I had a pair years ago, and absolutely loved them. The closest I've seen available anywhere anymore is the second edition, the spiderweb looking ones. Did anyone own the originals and if so what did you think of them? I miss those boots so much...
They are on eBay every once in a while.i think the white and blue colourway was just for sale earlier this week. Not sure if they sold or what the price was though. I was never able to cram my fat foot in the those f50's without it going numb, nice boot regardless.
Just wondering, has anyone ever had the tongue of their boot rip out? My copa tongue came out after about 15 uses.
Very unusual. I've had copa's last for years upon years without anything near that hapepneing. Had my tongues fully stretched out to the toe of the boot almost... Sounds like a defective stitching holding in the tongue at the front of the boot...
According to FourFourTwo magazine Oscar will be wearing a pair of miadidas brazil coloured boots against United tomorrow. There will be a chance to win them on the adidas website after the game. appleCORR
Ive got a pair of the red/white f30's with the lace cover (fg) still wear on rare occasions and still almost in pristine condition, love them to bits but dont want to ruin them! Had a ltd pair of precisions 2000 all silver, i think there was only 333 pairs in the country but wore them every week and eventually the toe area seprrated so much i had to chuck them out, gutted. Got severall classics and swop all the time as i dont want to ruin any.
I owned the F50+ in the black/blue colourway. The boot was quite light for its day, but would be considered rather heavy now. The leather was nice on the front, but the toes often wore away. The fact that there was a tongue, and the leather on top, meant that there was a fair amount of material between your foot and the ball. The material on the side got dirty easily. and the plastic webbing sometomes broke off, and honestly didn't give a good touch in the rain. Nevertheless, the red/white and black/white pairs looked amazing to me, and players like RvP rocked the champagne/silver colourway back in the days, scoring in FA Cups, and being sent off at Soton, while Peter Crouch still hadn't moved to Liverpool, or reinvented the robot dance! The limited GOAL edition was probably the best of them, since it was all made of some synthetic leather, and was as close as one could get to what some of the pros, like Robben and Trezeguet, were wearing. They wore all leather versions made to look like the boot. Let's just say that the novelty factor and nostalgia of that time in football gives that boot a very high score in my book. However, if you wan't to compare it to boots today...it's only good point is perhaps its durability.
I had the original F50 the black/neon yellow launch colourway. I loved them although I remember the guy in the shop giving me one size 6 and one size 7! I loved the look of the boot as there was nothing like it at the time it looked so clean. The only downside was it had no stability I remember a lot of twisted knees from where the back of the boot went one way and your foot the other. I actually sold mine on eBay a few months ago. In my opinion Adidas ruined the F50 line when they brought the tunits out. They were a brilliant idea just poorly thought through in the end. appleCORR
Greetings guys! been lurking this forum for years but just registered couple of mins ago well, could u guys tell me if the adidas team mundial turf fit true to size or at least similar to the adipure iv fg? i'm thinking to get a pair of the team mundial turf online as it's nowhere to be seen at shops around my place i wear 7uk for the adipure n whilst it was like really tight at first, after few games it's now PERFECT wish i'd have gone half a size down too when i bought my tiempo ronaldinho
I thought the tunits were a good idea aswell but never got a pair as everyone said they were naff and had problems with the studs. Do you think adidas will ever try something like that again? The predator precisions had screw in studs that went wobbly after a while and always seemed unstable and they changed these for the clip studs
Bad execution, in theory good idea. We wouldn't get all these people asking if you can wear fg on turf if the tunits were bad better, we could have all used mix sole too. maybe they would work better know with the current upper and the sprint sole? who knows.
With the tunits the studs were far too hard to change, it took ages to line the upper upto the holes of the insoles and then once the studs were in no matter how tight you had them they'd fall out. The upper was far too thick too, you couldn't feel the ball at all. If Adidas tried it sgain they'd have a lot of creases to iron out. appleCORR
As a whole, the idea was good, just made materials and bad design. if they was good, you wouldn't need a pair for sg/fg and then 3G as it was all there..just the studs fell out, bad foot cramping, thick upper, that strange clear heel..whatever they called that adiclear?! I can't remember.
I think really, in the end, they realised the profit margin on a 2nd pair of studs was so small when compared to a second pair of boots, so obviously didn't invest in improving them! also the boxes were pretty big so harder for stores to hold large stock
The material that the studs were made of wasn't good enough either, the tappings (?) became worn down sooo easily so changing studs meant ruining your studs, thus rendering your boot useless. That combined with a THICK upper, footcramps, horrible insole w/ rock hard metal at the bottom etc etc. The list goes on. If it had been pulled of great then that would've been the best, but I imagine making a boot with a soleplate and stud-pattern like that just makes you compromise in many aspects.
