Just FYI... The Hunts have been trying to sell the Crew since FC Dallas Stadium opened. This is just the first time Garber has mentioned it publicly and confirmed it.
I am starting to wonder if Pertuz has a future here, he sure seems to be good for a mental breakdown at least once a half. Perhaps he just can't be paired with a kid who has the same weakness though. No way they should sell Shea btw, this is the lowest his price would be, that would be terrible asset management. I am interested to see what happens this offseason, a whole new midfield with the exception of DF can't be out of the question. Jacobson can be a backup and do quite nicely pushing for spot starts, but I can't imagine keeping DeGuzman, Villar or Hernandez. A wide midfielder is a must, after getting a forward. Lots of work to do here, especially if Ugo retires and John walks, both of which I think are going to happen. Perhaps that leaves the door open for some others to get to stay who don't deserve it but the club doesn't want a massive overhaul on it's hands. 23 M Kellyn Acosta Stays 5 D Jair Benitez Gone 7 F Fabian Castillo Stays 12 M Julian de Guzman Gone 10 M/F David Ferreira Stays 6 D/M Jackson Goncalves Stays 8 M Bruno Guarda Gone 1 GK Kevin Hartman Stays 24 D Matt Hedges Stays 2 D/M Daniel Hernandez Retires 3 D Ugo Ihemelu Retires 4 M Andrew Jacobson Stays 15 F Matias Jara Stays for preseason 14 D George John Gone 21 M Bryan Leyva Stay 17 D Zach Loyd Stay 27 M James Marcelin Stay 9 F Blas Pérez Stay 13 D Hernan Pertúz Stay 22 D Carlos Rodriguez Stay 40 GK Richard Sanchez Stay 31 F Scott Sealy Gone 18 GK Chris Seitz Gone? 20 M Brek Shea Stay 32 F Jonathan Top Stay 28 M Victor Ulloa Gone? 11 M Ricardo Villar Gone 16 M Bobby Warshaw Stay
That needle dick Fredy Boo Boo sure did pull a couple of fast ones on us. A high kick for him then a dive, guess which one got called. Then another dive to set up the 2nd goal. No excuses though, the defense let some very silly balls get through. Was really looking forward to getting up there next weekend for a meaningful game. Oh well, this saves us the disappointment of going to LA and losing in the wild card game again.
Doesn't Freddy Putero remind you of a little Hispanic Hristo Stoichkov? Commentators cannot fallate him enough for his 'wile' and 'crafty' play. He's an absolute diver, whiner and all around puta. He needs a 15 month 'break' from the game like DF10 suffered.
I would never wish a leg break on anyone (....ok, anyone sans Dema), but if I was on the field I would definitely give him a reason to go down after the first few simulations.
Believe it or not, FC Dallas has been a lot closer to the top of the MLS payrolls than the bottom for a few years now. HSG is spending money on players, but not the right ones, apparently.
Apparently, Clark Hunt is having the same issue with the Chiefs. It’s not the quantity of the dollars spent, it’s the quality of what his dollars are buying. From an article talking about the Chiefs salary cap situation: "Some of you may be too disgusted by Clark Hunt and Scott Pioli’s management of your beloved Chiefs to look past your perception of them and root for the players. After all, Hunt and Pioli are cheapskates (to use the nicer term), right? Well, according to Spotrac.com, it appears that, of the 32 NFL teams, the Kansas City Chiefs are spending the most cap dollars of any team on active player contracts in 2012. I’ll wait for you to seek medical attention for your broken jaw; mine slammed pretty hard off of my desk, too… That was not a misprint: the Kansas City Chiefs, owned by Clark Hunt and family, managed by Scott Pioli, appear to be paying the most of any team on active player contracts this season.” So with CH at the helm, and spending at, or near the top of the league in salaries: FCD: 6 seasons, .513 winning percentage, 3 playoff appearances, 0 titles Chiefs: 5.5 seasons, .326 winning percentage, 1 playoff appearance, 0 titles Pretty good indication that it’s not how much you spend, but how you spend it …..
DF10- 16 Games Played Brek Shea- 21 Games Played Blas Perez- 19 Games Played George John- 23 Games Played Ugo Ihemelu- 10 Games Played I'm not as big of a fan as most who post here, but I have kept up with the team on a pretty regular basis the last few years. And I'm not one to make excuses, but the number of games played (or lack thereof) by these 5 key guys is pretty glaring. And I'm not sure how many games we have actually had all 5 or even 4 out of 5, but I'm sure it's less than 50%. Maybe it's time to overhaul the team, but I'd sure like to see as many of these guys as possible back for 2013.
your best best is 3 of 5. If Ugo returns I'd be shocked, with his history and the nastiness of the last concussion it's time for him to make a health/life decision and join the coaching staff. We all know what the future holds for John, not upset about it, just know it's happening. On the lighter note though, if Brek actually takes a break, we could that trio return 100% healthy to start preseason, very promising.
This team needs many things - all types of skilled, offensive-minded players. I think Freddy Adu has talent and something to offer an MLS team - but not FC Dallas. We are not good enough to include him - we are not good enough to need to rely on his inconsistent performances. I think on a strong team - he can play a role and be absorbed. But on a weaker team like us and with a coach who has "unpredictable" rosters and substitution patterns - I think Adu would end up being a distraction. Even if he could help.
