Wouldn't it be interesting if euro clubs started hiring way MLS club executives like kaval and Doyle because they know how to operate under a salary cap? It could happen...

So on the way home from work, listening to KQED (public radio), they had their 5:30 interview with Robert Jonas of Center Line Soccer. Good stuff about the groundbreaking, the game against LA, and the overall awesomeness of this year's Quakes. Link to listen is on this page -- it's about five minutes long.
Public broadcasting to the rescue...Where's Big Bird for a high five (high feather?). Actually it was a very dry interview (not Robert's fault, just kind of the interviewer's detached, dry delivery), but at least the information was conveyed.
I heard it too, Cy Musiker did the interview for the "California Report". Both he and Radnich are ignorant of the sport, Cy Musiker will admit it, Radnich will not.
Cy Musiker sounded just like Cy Musiker in that clip. Dry with just a hint of condescending; acting interested while his biases shine through.

Just about every day. I listen to Forum a lot (I stream it at work), plus regular-ol' NPR programming. Cy Musiker just hasn't been one of my favorites.

Woohoooooo! I guess we won't have the perfect storyline tomorrow, but that is no problem at all. Congrats QUAKES!! More silverware for the trophy case, it's been a long time!
Would be nice if the Shield got there by groundbreaking time. Also would be nice to beat that Galactoscum record for points.
Congrats! Do they still wait until the next season's opener to award the shield? They made a special exception for us the last time because of that I will not say. I've still got the photo up on the wall when we got the award last time.

"The Greatest Quakes team ever?" (SJEarthquakes.com - Thursday, 10/25/12) (Getty Images) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Well, the article only scratched the surface on the analysis and didn't discuss the 2005 team much. To me the MLS Cup is too much of a crapshoot to really figure into a "best team ever". I would be more inclined to look at the regular season. If the Quakes win on Saturday I think they will end up with 2.0 PPG, which would be the same as 2005. GD is comparable - 29 vs. 22 in 2005 in 2 less games. 2005 had a better defense, based on GA, and 2012 has a better offense, based on GF. I would tend to go with 2012 as the best ever Quakes team because IMO the quality of the competition is much better than in 2005. In 2005 there were lots of dysfunctional teams, including the mess in LA (yes, I know they won MLS Cup but they were a mess), Colorado was pretty weak IIRC, Dallas, expansion teams, etc. In 2012 there are teams with much bigger payrolls, multiple DPs, competent front offices and coaching staffs, more advanced scouting systems, etc. And the 2012 Quakes went undefeated against the top 3 closest finishers in the west, all wins and one tie, which is really incredible.
Not to mention that all of the Quakes' league home games this year (except for the AT&T Park game - incidentally, the team's only "home" loss this regular season - and the Stanford Stadium game ) were played on a nearly-ideal 74x115 yards playing field, so critics can't even use the "postage-stamp home field" excuse anymore to dismiss the team's home success as some of them did during The Golden Age and even during the 2010 playoff season.
