Guatemala brought it upon themselves. We would have been fine with a 0-0 tie, but Ruiz had to play the hero and score that first goal. That brought the wrath of Uncle Sam down on them. Next time, don't be so greedy.

I respect anyone who gave their all, and talent wise they were up against the odds. Hopefully they get their one day for their sake. Not sure how their younger generation is, but no reason they can't do what Jamaica has done and filter young talent into MLS.

Please, anyone who thinks players who've stepped on a pitch, court or field to compete will somehow play for a tie is delusional and most likely never played sports themselves.

Playing for a draw was a bunch of crap spewed by those not living in reality or understanding how athletes are wired at the top levels.

The ridiculousness that is watchespn is really pissing me off. I have Verizon FiOS and Verizon for my mobile phone. In the past if I had an ISP that paid espn's fees I was able to watch everything on what became watchespn because everything was espn3 and not just the Sri Lankan Primier League. Then if I subscribed to a cable package that included the channels and my cable provider paid for it, I could watch regular espn, espn2 and espnU streams on watchespn. Now if an event is on espn, I have to select the espn stream and the espn3 stream will be blacked out. That's annoying.

I'm with you, we are Guatemalan American and I would have been happy to have the tie but I'm also happy to see a good 90 minutes from the US.

Frankly, considering the patch-up job this Chapin side is, 3-1 at home is the minimum acceptable.

And they did not play all that well. At least we took advantage of it, but I think we are deluding ourselves if we think that defence would hold the teams we will face in the Hex.

Defense is a concern. Will Dolo show his age? Boca needs to be replaced. Cameron wasn't impressive these last two games. Klinsmann needs to look at CB options for next month and January.

Same problem that wasn't addressed over the last 14 months (CB options). At least we have a few months now to address that.

This is exactly my point. ESPN blacks out ESPN3 games on ESPN and ESPN2, but not events on ESPNnews, ESPNU, or other ESPN networks.

Defense has been a concern for just about the last two years. Cameron has just been OK, but then he is pretty new and has had a new partner just about every match. I still see Gonzalez as one who should get a chance this winter after the MLS season is over. We really do need a first choice pair for the center before the Hex; they have to have time to develop a partnership. Dolo ain't young but continues to be great and there are some other good options. Johnson is a stud but needs an understudy. It is fixable.

    Nice performance

    Thumbs up:
-Eddie Johnson (like the fact that he goes at defenders, something that is really lacking from the team)
-Michael Bradley (The piece that completes the puzzle with this squad)
    -Herculez Gomez (Love his workrate)
    -Zusi (Solid again)
-Clint Dempsey (scored when the team needed him to)

    Thumbs down
-Tim Howard (nervy performance by him tonight)
-Carlos Bocanegra (Have been concerned with his performances post Gold Cup)

We didn't want him to go to Mexico because that would make them stronger. Also puts Tijuana on the map, like Santos.

He was amazing, all the corners he won just by keeping his runs. He put two goals on a platter for Clint and ej, but could not finish. It is going to be tough taking his job. Whoever does start over him, will probably get only 45 mins. to kill it, if not there goes Herc in.

And we didn't want him to go there, either. Destiny came for Joseph Benjamin Corona in the form of some stars...and some stripes.

I feel bad for them to a point, then I remember all the cheap shots and hard fouls they got away with in Guatemala when the US visited there, and then I smile.
