It's embarrassing and now you might end up missing a huge match.

Very disappointing end to an otherwise very good performance.

MLS players looking better than ever. We had some style, Michael Bradley circulated the ball well, and we responded well to that early goal. Who said Johnson doesn't challenge defenders?

    I'm still enjoying the win.

But it really was a dumb yellow card to pick up...

The big problem is that now Dempsey is carrying a yellow into the hex.

Heck, if the ref had called his BLATANT dive earlier in the 1st half, he could have been ejected from the game. He needs to stop with that nonsense.

Yeah, that was weak. But on the other hand, he played like a madman, scored a brace, and helped us lock up qualification to the hex. Obviously the diving should go, but on balance he was a massive plus for the US tonight and that's the most important thing.

I don't wanna make excuses, but he could have just tripped over himself.

    Either way BAD DEMPSEY

My understanding is that all yellows wipe out and everyone starts clean in the Hex.

I hope so, as it wasn't the case in 2009.

IIRC Ian Darke said that yellows carry over.

I think CONCACAF make the yellow-clearing thing up as they go. I bet they end up clearing in the end.

Dempsey was diving away for some reason and it was too obvious. Maybe he felt like messing with Guatemala after what he witnessed down there, I mean, the flopping was superb on their side in their country.

They honestly change their policy on that all the time, often after the fact. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, and we don't know yet what they'll do this time.

In any case, it was a huge "C'mon, man!" moment.

There was a moment maybe around the 85th minute when Mo ( I think) kind of refused help getting up, then dropped his ass to the turf, then got up slowly with a giant smirk at the Guatemalan player. It was quite entertaining.

I didn't understand that yellow card. Deuce lost his juice for a moment and it cost him.

You guys need to get off of Clint, it's part of the game whether we like it or not. I don't like it, but it's part of the game. Just like time wasting during/at end of games, faking injuries, and shit like that. No different from junk that happens in NBA games like flopping (NBA might actually be doing something about that), acting like you got raped going down the lane hopeing to get a foul called, holding ball until the last second fo the shot clock to waste time. It happens in all sports, not sure why you US soccer fans are so negative towards the things that happen in soccer. The beloved NFL is the worst, kneeing at end of games to eat clock, waiting till last second to snap ball to waste time, freezing kickers, acting like a WR got raped to try and get a pass interference call. EVERY sport has it's issues and shit we don't like about, no sense in crying about it or making a big deal

You're right for the most part. Although clock wasting and diving are different issues to be honest.

The reason US soccer fans (some) care so much is that for years, there was definitely at least a perception that while not the most skilled, our players had more honor than anyone. And for that reason, the lack of diving was something to be proud of.

Now, diving/flopping has pervaded all American sports, so it's not surprising that we're seeing more in soccer too. It may be disappointing, but it's probably something that newer/younger soccer fans won't care about as the years go by.
