I'm leaving for Tomsk, Siberia tomorrow to spend the summer on a study abroad program, and for my host family I bought Crew scarves for everyone. Male or female, it didn't matter. The seeds have been planted.
Hunt for the Red October.... Better yet...just leave everything with associated with the color red at home.
check out one of the Crew merchandise stores while there. Last I heard Crew International was ready to open up a fourth store.
on a serious post, invalid, having spent a good amount of time in the Alaskan Interior I'm sure your area of Siberia will be similar. You are correct, that alpine forest is beautiful. It will be great with the long days (how much sunlight will you expect anyway?). What is the topography like around there, do you have the chance to do any mountaineering? ps: remember to always get between a mother grizzly and her cub, and to run downhill during a bear charge.
heavily forested or either swampy. i managed to do a little hiking, but it was tick season for most of the time
The reds don't mind that story too awfully much. They know they got beat and admit the US played one hell of a game. The 1972 USA-USSR gold medal bball game is a different story though! In one of the pictures, I saw the vendor with kbac. Ahhh, looking at that makes me realize that I could sure go for some flat root beer stored in an old oil drum right about now! I think it is never get between STA and her grizzly babushka.
where in siberia are you going? Most of it's still snow covered but if you get a chance, archangel's an experience.
Just kidding with my Siberia comments. I'm from northern Minnesota and my family now lives in Alaska. When we attack the back yard this fall, I'm finding a spot for a birch tree or two. Enjoy the long days. Bring your mosquito repellent.
Looks a lot like the area around Fairbanks. Hot and buggy in the summer, very, very cold in the winter I suspect. Good luck!
