I like Heaps but he really isnt cutting it as a coach. I think at the end of the season it's time to end the amateur hour and hire an experienced coach. 26 points is terrible and does not deserve another shot.

This game was easily winnable but we were lucky to get out with a tie. Up a man.. best players riding the bench ....IDK what he's trying to do but I'm tired of watching what ever it is

I've been saying this for a while. He's got to go. I can understand Toja on the bench, because he's not yet in game shape. But his love affair with Ryan Guy...? While Benny rots on the bench?

Benny had a chance this season to be the veteran glue that held together the new collection of passing-minded offensive players and to make, to the extent it was possible, the attack offense work. Whether it was injuries or some degree of dissatisfaction with his situation, I don't know, but we didn't see that from him. After a while, I think Jay decided to try something else. I bet Ryan Guy hustles his butt off in practice, and, whether that is good coaching or not, again I don't know, but I'm sure it is one of the reasons Ryan plays and Benny sits. That being said, I thought Benny was a huge part of the energy that happened last night after he and Toja entered the game, so yes, in a perfect world, the Revs are definitely a better team with those two on the pitch and committed to playing.

Heaps has lost the plot. But I can almost guarantee he'll be back next year. If he wants it.

I'll point this out again... if Jay Heaps is fired after the season, what coach worth their salt takes this job after you've set the precedent that they could get fired after one season if they don't turn things around right away?

I don't know, TFC keeps finding guys to take the job. Have any of their coaches lasted more than a year?

Edit: Found the answer, only 1 of 7 coaches, Aron Winter, and he only survived a year and a half.

Things looked pretty hopeless a year after Kreis took over at RSL. I'm not saying things will turn around, but I think Heaps should have until May.

A top draft pick, a good international signing, and a solid trade or two could turn this team around big time.

If you're going to hire a guy with minimal experience, it's pretty dumb to fire him after only one season unless there was a player's revolt or some criminal behavior.

    Nothing's going to happen.
And we'll be right back here in 12 months in the same exact position.
    Guaranteed.

This is circular logic. Heaps was hired because no coach worth their salt would take the job in the first place.

If you hire a new GM, it is fair to let him select his own coach. That would be reasonable and seems to be pretty industry standard.

Didn't Kreis have Lagerway and different infrastructure which probably made a difference? Not sure I have that same optimism....years of being beat down

If I were Kraft, I'd spend whatever it took to hire Lagerway away from RSL. They have built a solid team without spending large on DPs like NY and LA.

Of course, if I were Kraft, I never would have let the Revs reach the current sorry state in the first place...

    From Bilello's Reddit session:

"I'd say for the most part the coaches make the player decsions for most teams in this league (including ours). GMs, TD's etc. are usually more involved in the contract side although they certianly provide some level of input in terms of scouting."

I post this just to point out that the structure of the front office for the Revs isn't quite what we're used to in other U.S. sports. Burns doesn't really oversee Heaps.

I'd say for the most part that's actually not true. But then again, what does Brian Bilello actually know about how proper MLS teams functions?
