Thanks for the comms, folks. I was at a wedding and kept sneakily checking updates on my HTC. Finally the goals worthy of the performance! Total domination and, for the first in a coon's age, constant support for the man on the ball to take advantage of the opposition's errors. Can't wait to watch the highlights. Silly goals to give up, though, and that's been the key reason why we are where we are in the table. Sort it out at the back there, lads.
I'm just happy. Nice to see Suarez come off the pitch with a grin like that. Here's to many more for him.
For those who were wondering whether Gerrard can be a passing midfielder or play in Rodgers system; today: 93 passes (89%), 10/13 long passes, 5 key passes, 1 goal today. Against United he had 95% passing completion rate. Outstanding.
Also: @OptaLiverpool 734 - Liverpool made 734 passes today, which is the most by Liverpool in the history of PL. We also had 67% of possesion. Tiki-taka.
Sahin is going to be the Signing of the Season for Us....Top top Player and his CLASS is Showing. He's Already compared BR to Juergen Klopp's situtation when he took Dortmund from the verge of Bankruptcy to Champions with a Will to Win playing Attractive Football and there's no reason why Rodgers cant do the Same. YNWA.
Caption Suarez: I just shagged your sister, mate! Sahin: He really did. I saw the whole thing! That fcukin' grin is lol
agreed. i've gone from excited we had him, to pretending to not be bothered he was going to arsenal, to annoyed by the whole saga, to hoping he works out, to being slightly impressed, to being quite impressed, to being very impressed, to dying that we can keep him. all in about one month's time.
haha! this is what were promised however in terms of his quality by a couple of folks such Forever Red
i think one of the reasons suarez was able to shine today was he had constant support. gerrard and sahin were constantly joining up in the attack and making timely runs into the box, be they late or early. as well as suso, sterling and johnson in close support. in fact, gerrard was so high up the pitch today, it seemed like, at times, he was playing up top with suarez in a two-man front line (gerrard/torres flashback). i only noticed once or twice today someone putting a ball into the box and no one was in there, we had consistent support. it helped luis keep from getting frustrated with the isolation, which i think freed his mind to focus on finishing. i think he gets a revenge boost, sometimes, where he wants to punish you, comes at you full-force with teeth-clenched, want to drive you into the ground and he snatches at those chances. for some players it works, but i think for suarez, when he's happy and relaxed he's a much more dangerous finisher. he's better when he tries to embarrass defenders rather than punish them. does that make sense?
Unfortunately, I suspect the folks at RM are watching, too. I didn't get to watch the game this morning but look forward to seeing it on my DVR, probably tonight. Sounds like a fantastic match.
I'm certain they've been watching as well, and I know they won't want to see him go. That said, with Modric and others in the fold, he might decide he likes it here.
Our "Friend" Halsey gave a cheap, I mean positively free shot penalty to JAR today, for falling over when he got into the penalty area going past Zabaleta. It just sucked to see it.
Consistently amazed how the young kids come in and look like seasoned pros. Isn't there an option to buy in the Sahin deal? Hope so. Only saw bits and pieces of the game but certainly looks like things are on the up.
I'm sure that if all three parties agree, then something can get worked out. If that's the case, then we need to hope that mourinho stays on at Madrid. From what I've read, he doesn't think sahin has the mentality to play for him, whatever the ******** that means. He seems to have struck up quite the rapport with Suarez and Rodgers. Certainly, that will help.
Luis was phenomenal today - and all that without moping around (as much as usual ) when he doesn't get his way - loved seeing that. Great player. Sahin's link up play was top notch - looks like a keeper.
He was recently quoted as saying that "he'd consider making his stay permanent." That however, is something almost all loan players say to keep the fans of the club they're on loan to interested. However, If we start to surge as expected and and the youngsters keep progressing into key players, he may decide that staying at Liverpool is worth his while. Mourinho is also on great terms with Rodgers and doesn't seem to be a fan of Sahin's playing style, so there's definitely a chance. The way I see it, if Sahin plays like he has the last two matches consistently all season then I'd be willing to bet something in the neighbourhood of 20 million pounds would make both parties happy, because the way I see it with the way Coates, Wisdom, Robinson, and all the midfielders are progressing, our only other needs are a finisher and a left back...and a solid LB can be bought for under 10. Selling Downing, Enrique, and (maybe) Carroll while getting Cole off the wage bill somehow will finance all of this, and despite what some people believe, our owners aren't "cheap." I'm still of the belief that they want to see if BR's philosophy works before they splash more cash like they did before with Kenny.
Email that to the league's head official. Off all the shit that is carded on a weekly basis - how in the hell did the elbow at 22' go unnoticed? He's our Energizer bunny - he just keeps going and going and going. Just can't get enough!
Finally, the dam have been broken. A lovely barrage of goals. Luis with a hat-trick and Sahin gets one too. Seems we finally have a deep midfielder who can score. Xavi who? I hope this match gives Suarez some much needed confidence. Suso, that lad's got a lot of talen, swagger and most importantly, a wicked quiff. The world (and the ladies) will one day lay at his feet. ynwa
