Is it just me or did Vermes like a WWE has-been on the sidelines? I thought the reffing was equally poor to both sides but the Fire should've had a FK at the top of the box in the waning minutes.

Play in question starts at 3:30. Rolfe makes the pass, and a full 60 seconds later a KC player comes through and just lowers his shoulder and follows through. Now that I've seen the replay it looks even more intentional than I originally thought. Incredible that it didn't warrant a card.

i woke up at some godawful time and caught the last 15+ minutes. you guys did get screwed by the ref on a few top-of-the-box calls.

(and there is still time for the DC to suspend people.:()

Did you guys watch the game? Rolfe got knocked down immediately after he made the pass to Mac and Nyarko was back defending. The pass to spring Mac was great and and covered a lot of ground that would have been hard to make up even if Rolfe wasn't lying on the ground but my guess is he would have made the effort. I wish some of you guys would think before you criticize.

Officiating was horrible, Im a Liverpool fan as well, and it reminded me of the LFC/mu game last weekend. SKC could do no wrong it seemed.

The ref may have been bad but when you only make the opposing goalkeeper make one save you are not doing a good job.

Klopas made contact with the 4th offical, I wouldn't be suprised if they don't add another game to his suspense.

Ref was ********ing horrible, that what lead to Frankie getting kicked out. Good for Frankie for not taking that crap....

That said, I don't know how Vermes made it throught the whole game. All he does is bitch to the 4th ref, he should of been ejected by half time.

I think we still have a decent chance to overtake KC if the ball bounces our way a little. KC, I believe, plays next at Columbus where the Crew are still fighting to secure a playoff spot so that is not a given even though KC has played well on the road. Of course, they still have to play RB twice so if we pick up our three points this week against Philly when we make up that game in hand we'll only be two points out of first with three games to go and all three of KC's will be dog fights. If we can win out, I think the best KC will do is 2 of 3. We just have to take care of business.

The first half reminded me of the first half vs Montreal. We got outcoached and overrun in midfield and they shut down our wing play. Except we didnt get a lucky goal this time before the half and oh yeah, skc is a. It better than Montreal.

Specifically Alex sucked balls the first half, he didn't help win the ball and he rarely did anything with it on offense. No really I'd like to see his stats for the first half. Can't wait for Pardo to be healthy so that Alex can be a 2nd half sub.

We needed a 2nd player in the middle to help pause, because against nagamura, Cesar and Espinoza he got beat silly for 90mins.

Sorry to burst your bubble Coach, but SKC plays C'bus and NYRB away, then Philly at home.

This is one of the limitations of Logan Pause's game. When a ref is going to allow for this type of play we don't have anyone willing to step up an make a hit in midfield. We have Sega and Gargan but no rock in the center.

I think the term we're looking for is 'Enforcer'. ;)

We could use a Dema-type player.

In post 95, I mentioned that. I am not sure if was a blown call on Rolfe or not, but certainly Nyarko (most likely) or Alex or Fernandez should have run forward, especially when Rolfe was knocked down.

Check the video I posted, Nyarko and maybe Alex can be forgiven. They are quite a bit behind the play when it starts (it was turnover in the SKC half), and I do see Nyarko at least start to run when he sees it. Flaco looks at it and just stands still. He doesn't even walk towards the play. Disgusting.

I can't tell if its Pause or Alex nearer to the ball, but either way, they aren't expected to be joining the attack, they are holding mids. And if it was Pause closer (I thought it was), he's not exactly a speedster.

But Flaco has no excuse. its disgusting looking at the lack of effort he put in that.

"Enforcer" might be too strong a word. They have to have skills and strength. It's not like hockey where you can put someone out there for one line and take them back off after they make a hit.

Dema is a good example. He had some skill but was tough. If I remember correctly when he retired every team he ever played on in MLS made the playoffs. He was 100%.

Alex's numbers were poor, which probably explains why he was taken off.

matches like this are the reason that I have not jumped on the "Fire in this year's MLS CUP or even in the Conference Final" bandwagons. They are stilll playoff failures at best, imo.

Disappointing result, but they beat SKC already (2-1 Season series) and NYRB (1-1), and Columbus, and Houston.

They had one pretty bad game, and if Rolfe hits the ball in the net at 7' things are dramatically different.

What you are saying makes no sense...

    I do not disagree.

I was looking at it live (and on replays at the time). Still, if Rolfe goes down, Nyarko should try to sprint up field to fill in the gap.

    As for Fernandez, agreed.

Just read wat happened to MP of PTFC. Glad someone spoke up FINALLY about the horrible refs. Every time I brought that concept up all the MLS fanboys would pretend like it never existed, even in this particular game the refs were horrible. MLS LLC should use the 25k to improve the officiating but sadly will most likely go to don garbers bonus or someone's paycheck in upper mgmt

I hope they use the money to pay your therapist to finally just put you in a home for the mentally unstable. Where you can get beaten, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest style.

All league fines go to the MLS WORKS charities....Not that you actually care. Also, I'm pretty sure ever MLS fan ever has been plenty clear about the officiating being bad. What they might have done was point out that the MLS can't really do much about it, since the refs are supplied by the USSF. Which would be a valid counter-point, though I would hope the MLS has enough clout to force them to improve standards.
