I'd always heard about the $10k bet thing -- but that was the first time I'd actually seen it.

Rick Perry's reaction is astonishing as he slowly realizes "This guy actually means it - he wants me to make a $10,000 bet." -- and literally throws up his hands in disbelief.

And I could be wrong, but I'm not sure the "infinite sadness" part is a direct reference to anything; I took it as simply a phrase that captures Mitt's endless stumble through public life.

It's a good reminder of the peculiarity of the Republican Party. This guy could give a shit about red staters. They're all a bunch of small timers to him, nobodies who make nothing and do nothing, who sit around moralizing about family values and school prayer and gays being evil. He wouldn't hire them to mow his lawn, the Hispanics do a better job.

But he needs them to get his taxes cut.

Where has Mitt Romney said he doesn't care about the poor?

Romney: Campaign ‘Not Concerned About the Very Poor’
    Feb 1, 2012 11:07am

GOP front-runner Mitt Romney quickly sought today to clarify comments he made this morning about whether his campaign is focused on poor people.
In an interview on CNN this morning, Romney he’s not concerned about the plight of the country’s very poor because there are social safety nets that take care of them.
“I’m in this race because I care about Americans,” Romney told CNN’s Soledad O’Brien this morning after his resounding victory in Florida on Tuesday. “I’m not concerned about the very poor.We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I’ll fix it.”
“I’m not concerned about the very rich, they’re doing just fine. I’m concerned about the very heart of the America, the 90, 95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling and I’ll continue to take that message across the nation."

Remember, this was him not caring about them before he cared about them enough to label them lazy leeching losers, mind you.

    Ok. Where is the problem?

He acknowledged there are social safety nets for them. He wants to fix them. So at least he wants to fix them. President Obama doesn't want to fix social security and Medicare.

He wants to worry about the 95 percent of Americans - Middle class. Democrats should be thrilled.

    Mitt broke his promise.
Now he is only worried about 53% of Americans.

You have obviously taken his I am not worried about the poor out of context.

You just lost all credibility here. That is retarded. So Obama can just get the troops out the day after his inauguration? Like his opinion is the only one that matters. Bush made commitments in Afghanistan and created a puppet regime that we own now. Obama has to take input from the Pentagon, the Afghan government and our NATO allies. This is bigger than just what the Democratic party wants.

What you're doing here is like if you start a fist fight with some a**hole, I come to help you out because you're my friend, you walk away, the cops come ... I get arrested for your fight ... and after all that you still have the nerve to say "well you shouldn't be fighting in the first place"

Is President Obama Commander-in-Chief? There is not a six star general is there?

I know it is a role he is uncomfortable in and doesn't like.

Many Democrats and liberals state they were illegal wars - then pull us out.

Think of the lives that would have been saved. The deficit would not be as bad as it currently is.

President Obama would be hailed as a courageous and fiscally responsible leader. He could have explained that America can't afford the wars anymore. Whether in terms of human treasure (most important) or dollars.
