    Let the speculation begin!!!

    http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/09/14/hahneman-returns-mls-club-be-determined-friday

I have no idea how Hahnemann could possibly fall to Seattle, nor do I think we even need him.. I doubt he'll be cheap, so while we are in dire need for a backup GK, will Hahnemann be happy in that role and will we even be able to afford whatever salary he has?

A few MLS analysts on twitter are saying he is going to land with Seattle. The only way this could happen is if Hahnemann signed with MLS knowing that he wanted live in Seattle & make some money (obscure) rather than none. Would be surprised if he even beat out Gspurning for the starting spot. I highly doubt it though.

It's late! He should come at the end of last season to replace CK. We have now MG and we are happy with him! I can see him as back-up to MG or gk coach in Sounders organization!

Its easier to get players if they have a specific destination in mind. Marcus wanted to come home to Seattle and MLS granted that request.

Not to mention that the only guaranteed part of their contract is for 8 games...

Awesome!!! Marcus is a Seattle soccer icon and a great goalkeeper. A neat thing is that he not only connects to the mid-90's Sounders, but also the early-90's Seattle Pacific team that was coached by Cliff McCrath who came to SPU in 1970 and sometimes appears on Sounders TV broadcasts. The Sounders are blessed with so much homegrown influence. On the goalkeeping tip, we also have Tommy Dutra as our goalkeeper coach who was a high school GK in Lacey and a contemporary of Kasey Keller.

Yeah, I actually watched him play at memorial stadium. Can't believe after all these years, that we get to see him in a Sounders uniform again. What always impressed me about his play, was his athletic ability. His positioning wasn't the greatest, but he could spring like a cat. Of course, that was a long time ago, and I haven't seen a single game of his during his time in England. Welcome home.

I'm gonna say------ false. Chicago fans are pissy because the return of McBride required Chad Barrett AND a first rounder. I'd say it's much harder if players have a specific destination in mind.

In fact, according to Hahnemann himself, he'd already retired and was frustrated with MLS rules that he was forced to do so without playing with the Sounders.

    ...Until Adrian called.

There's a reason this happened on freeze day. The Sounders were perfectly willing to keep their draft pick and let Marcus stay in retirement, if TFC didn't agree to the trade before Hahnemann signed.... and then we'd probably leak the story about how a spiteful TFC would rather watch their Allocation slot expire worthless than acquire another draft pick. I doubt MLS had anything to say about the negotiation.

Is there any sober Sounder fan that wouldn't vote to keep Adrian for 4 more years? Though its no guarantee to win a championship, Adrian has acquired a championship caliber team. Not every player has worked as expected, but more often than not, both Adrian and Chris' decisions have been the right ones. Moreover, they seem very shrewd when gaming, I mean navigating, MLS's convoluted system.

Adrian is smart and good poker player.:)
Wait until he completely learn how UEFA works than we can see Sounders making "paid"spring tours to Europe and Asia as our preseason preparation. ;)

Toronto just used their allocation spot, because they will be on the top of the list next year anyway.

I don't understand the MLS roster rules. Do we still have room for Gudjohnson/Ogararu?

I misssing the point on this one. I understand the legend part... and continuity of history... but do we really need another keeper? There be something else going on here.

Our young guys are just not ready for this level yet. Gspurning may still be dealing with his injury, we are getting close to the playoffs & we need a proven guy in there should G not be able to play. I would guess that Meredith & Ford get sent out on loan to get playing time once Marcus is ready. Webber is 3rd keeper if we keep 3.

I have to agree with dmain. We say how weak Meredith was when Gspurning was injured. Last thing we need is for him to get hurt again around the playoffs and have us make an early exit off what should be easy saves. This seems like a solid pick up.

I don't mean to pile on your post, as you ask a legitimate question, but I'll add one more reason for liking this move. Marcus is a really cool and likable guy with a lot of experience, that without a doubt would be happy to share with the younger players in the club. But mostly because he's just a damn cool dude. Hopefully we can keep our CCL run going, which is where we are likely to see him in action this year.

I hope MH gets to play in the less important CCL game. I have pretty good seats in that game, though.
