I will be at the game on Saturday down on the field level seats. If I see Long ******* Tan playing before Salihi, I will give Tan AND Ben a colonic irrigation.
Was watching some highlights from earlier this year, and I noticed on our second goal against Colorado (Salihi's rebound goal) right before Neal(?) crosses the ball, Hamdi is standing in an offside position. He is aware of this, and as Neal(?) looks up, Hamdi checks back and is onside when the cross is hit. It's very clever by Hamdi. None of our other forwards have the awareness that Hamdi has, and it's a damn shame Olsen doesn't appreciate what he brings to the table.
I watched a practice recently and Salihi was the most active and dangerous forward in the short field game.
did anything beyond Goff's one tweet form this impression? With DeRo on the shelf we will certianly get an understanding of Benny's philosophies
Plan B is the fortuitous visitors' locker room ceiling collapse. DC United has been working with the city on this contingency plan for years. Plan C: Blame the refs.
Plan B: We're ****ed. Season over. Pink Slips for everyone. Plan C: Play the most talented mofo's on the damn roster. Adjust formation and supporting players to compliment. Plan D: find a way to score a goal or two.
When did you ever see my penis or have you just heard the stories of women white water rafting after my releases?
The most disheartening thing about all this is that I fully expect to see Saragosa, McDonald and Long Tan in the starting lineup tomorrow night.
When did this thread become a bad frat house parody. Any chance we could talk about the team? I'm sure there's gotta be another place online for you to talk wishfully about your privates. Threads about the team's play are underwhelming enough without drawing helpful comparisons. Jus sayin...
The only thing I hate about starting two holding/defensive midfielders is we'll still see four defenders not marking a damn soul behind them. I have no problem starting Kitchen and Saragosa if there is a three man line behind them or we play two outside wingbacks (Korb/Najar) and let them fly up field while the D shifts and covers until they can return. This team lives and dies on the success of DeRo. Now he is out for the rest of the year. September is not the time of year to start looking for other solutions on the roster, they should have already been developed. I would love to see Salihi up top with Pontius and have Boskovic feeding them in the Amid spot. I'm sure we'll see Tan and Pajoy trying to develop their chemistry instead.
Again in the post -- at least online -- no mention of Salihi. This is a big story when a heralded international player -- your most expensive -- is brought in, then banished from the field and from the press. In any other country there would be some discussion in the media. Shame on Goff and the other soccer press for not doing their jobs and saying what's going on or posing the question publicly. Thats basic journalism. Shame on Ben for not sharing something. This has reached the point of being disrespectful to the fans that care so deeply about United. I'll cheer for Ben the player tonight, but Ben the coach I'm finding hard to love.
While I don't expect to see Tan starting, I wouldn't be surprised to see him off the bench, subbing for Pajoy....while our most capable striker rots on the bench. At least, there doesn't seem to be any way Olsen can wiggle out of having to start Boskovic.
To be clear -- Goff wrote that he expects to see Santos and Pajoy up top. Consequently, I expect to see DC struggle to score.
Salihi impressed yet again with his limited minutes. he might have the best soccer brain on the team. I'm still rooting for him to become a regular starter at some point as unlikely as that is. edit: have to give credit to santos too though, he is the best striker dc has when it comes to hold-up play and that is huge given how often they play the long ball. have we seen a santos/salihi striker pairing this year?
Salihi played very well last night with limited minutes. Ben must have heard my warning about playing LFT* before Salihi. He hustled, made great runs, almost had a nice bicycle kick. Member of Team Salihi, not Team LFT* *Long ******* Tan
