Well, Im not sure what they are talking about but the English language version is on till September 11th. Unless BeIN Sport Spanish channel was to go off today but they decided to keep it open. If thats the case, well that nice of Dish to do that. But on my Dish the Spanish channel is on 871.
408 and 871 are the same channel(beIN Sport) only that 871 has the alternate audio turned automatically.. 458 is the beIN en Español or "beIN ñ"
Not sure how it happened, but channel 594 on Comcast here in South Bend is now BeIn Sport, and it is the English language version, as I did nothing to change audio when I turned it on. The onscreen guide is also listing events rather than just one long "BeIn sport programming". So I'm hoping this is the English language BeIn 1, and I'll get to see the US play live tonight.
I can't speak for JCUnited, but my "Spanish language" version of BeIN is airing Ecuador-Bolivia, with Glenn Davis commentating. And sure enough -- there's the US-Jamaica game, listed to start at 7:50. This channel is grouped with the other Latino channels, so I'm almost entirely sure it's supposed to be the Spanish BeIN. I'm guessing maybe Comcast has screwed up and is using the wrong BeIN feed. Of the seven-bazillion Comcast screw-ups I've experienced in the past 15 years, this will be, of course, the first that I stand and applaud.
Ecuador-Bolivia is being broadcast on both channels, so not a good barometer of what is going on. Still supposedly an error with the programming grid beIn sent Comcast. I would recommend finding a friendly bar if you want to see USA/Jam live if you are a Comcast customer.
Hmm. I was going by the fact that jcvf90 said the Spanish channel is showing Colombia-Uruguay (which he wrote at 5:32 p.m., when Ecuador-Bolivia was already underway). So jcvf90's information is incorrect, then? If so, I need to go delete the optimistic post I just left for Comcast folks over in the USA Men's forum...
Yep...Paraguay/Argentina starting now, even in English, it's clearly not USA/Jam. beIn screwed up on the grid they gave Comcast. Shocker.
Good grief, this whole thing has gotten so convoluted. I just watched a BeIN commercial promoting the US match, with English voiceover declaring the broadcast to be "live today!" ... and with Spanish-language graphics saying it will air at 11:45 p.m. Sigh.
Yeah, that part I knew. It was "jcvf90" who screwed me up with his Colombia-Uruguay tidbit above. <shakes fist at jcvf90>
Hard not to conclude the following: in negotiations, it was never made clear to Comcast that this is NOT a gol-tv situation where the 2 channels mirror each other. Its clearly a FSC vs. FSD situation. Who is to blame (beIN or Comcast) is anybody's guess but confusion will reign for a while. On a slightly different note: ALL SPORTS CHANNELS SHOULD BE IN HD. Period. From bowlling to curling to soccer and cricket. I understand bandwidth limitations but when you see the other crap that is in HD while sports channels get ignored, its just bad business. EVERY provider is guilty. Just no excuse in this day and age....I have the 2 channels up side by side today. Its like one of my TVs is in the 21st century and the other stuck in the last century. Frustrating... SA www.soccertvblog.com
Answer me this, if you can: Why is there even an alternate English track for the Spanish BeIN? Moreover, why is that English track the default audio on Comcast for me (and apparently many others)?
I am also curious to know why is there an english audio for spanish be in channel? There is about to be a lot of pissed off casual Comcast viewers once they realize the us game isn't coming on and the grid is wrong.
Yep. This whole thing has been a huge mess all around. Way to leave a bad taste in the mouths of potential customers before they even get to taste your actual product.
As a FIOS customer i feel really bad for those people that have to deal with the inconvenience of a new all soccer channel that is so poorly organized. Now pardon me while i return to my beloved no soccer carrying, customer disrespecting providers programming!
In your Comcast audio setup menu there is a setting for default audio language, most people here presumably have that set to English, so you will automatically get English audio when available.
Comcast assuming (or beIN not being clear) the fact that this is NOT a GOL-TV situation would explain everything....the dual audio, the wrong programming data, the lack of 2 separate channels!! The other explanation (and very probable now that I think about it) is in beIN's hurry to get the channel on Comcast and perhaps Comcasts unwillingness to add 2 channels, the only deal that could be struck was for beINSports to be added as a "spanish sports channel" aka "specialty channel". The compromise between the 2 entities being the addition of dual audio. Remember, as far as Comcast is concerned, this is a specialty channel no different than a music channel or a channel that covers gay parades.... Of course, for us soccer fans who know the history of this channel and Comcasts overall indifference to soccer, we see it for exactly what it is - a bloody mess. SA www.soccertvblog.com
I just noticed thate comcast grid says US vs Jamaica in Columbus, Ohio and the teams also met kast Friday in Kingston, Jamaica. I don't know if it says that on other carriers grids but it doesn't reflect good on comcast or bein along with the fact that i'm actually watching Messi.
For what its worth, no issues on Tuesday...all 4 qualifiers from South Ameirca are on both beIn channels. Also worth noting, Saturday 4pm ET....Real Madrid "B" vs. Xerez on both beIN channels. SA www.soccertvblog.com
So since no one here in LA carries beIN in spanish, I was not able to see the Colombia vs. Uruguay game. But I am hearing that this will not be the case on Tuesday. Ecuador vs Bolivia was in full 1080p, This is such a mess, but for better or for worse, the South American qualifications are now open and in Full HD. All in all, not a bad job.
So what was bein's big announcement that they alluded to? That dish gave its customers free access to bein ñ??
