Meet the New Haven Gooners. We had our kick-off party at Christy's on Orange this week for the City match, and the turnout was excellent. We had something like 25 people, which isn't bad for a first time. We've been in contact with Arsenal America and they've been very helpful. You can find us at the following places www.newhavengooners.com www.facebook.com/newhavengooners www.twitter.com/newhavengooners (follow us! I'm going to be running this feed) Or you can e-mail me at TeagueDwyer@newhavengooners.com If you're in the CT area, we're making Christy's the place to be for Arsenal supporters, so come on out!
Good showing guys! Which of yous are on BigSoccer? Who Are Ya?! My Arsenal local is Tigin's in Stamford, where I've seen increasingly good turn-outs against the likes of ManU & Barca. When I go it's usually midweek CL ties. But w/ so many of our matches on my TV this year I've gotten down there less & less. Anyway, keep up the good work. If I'm ever trapped in New Haven on a match day I know where to come.
I think I'm the only Bigsoccer.com guy (middle, '71 throwback behind the bending over guy) but there are a lot of knowledgeable fans there and I'm gonna convince a few they should be here. We'd love to have a guy like you come out NB, even if it has to be a special occasion. I'll buy you a pint or three
A very generous invite... 3 pints no less... but don't hold your breath. BTW, what on earth are you doing to that guy who's bending over?
Erm... a "victory dance?" I dunno, but that's Craig, one of the three guys that has been organizing this thing. He's, um, ENTHUSIASTIC (loud).
Great to hear about this guys. I live in London but New Haven is my homebase stateside, so I'm often there. I'll swing round Christy's next time I'm in town for a match.
Power play Gary (THE soccer guy at the Liff) jumped ship from Anna Liffey's to Christy's. Liffey's is a Liverpool bar anyway.
Wha?! Gary is a good guy. Always took care of me when I visit my friends up there. Hmm, might be tough to get my boys to go switch to Christy's as they have a running relationship with Liffey's with their kickball league.
Aaaand like that we're on Arsenal.com http://www.arsenal.com/usa/news/features/meet-the-new-haven-gooners
Just a bumpy bump to see if there are any new Gooners around. The New Haven Gooners still meet at Christy's and we've been having some pretty strong turnouts lately, but we aim to leave nobody behind! hit us up at facebook.com/newhavengooners or PM me for details.
OK, FabregasTED...Yes, there are other NH Gooners here! A great turnout last week for RVP's sweet volley. Should be easy to figure who I am.
My how we've grown! Our new profile on Arsenal.com launched today: http://www.arsenal.com/usa/fanzone-usa/usa-supporters-club/new-haven-ct We're packing the place for every match these days. An absolute blast. Makes watching Arsenal so much more rewarding (and, yes, bearable at times.) We're going to be featured on the front page on the lead up to the Montpelier match. If you're ever in the area, you have to come check us out! facebook.com/NewHavenCTGooners twitter.com/newhavengooners
I really should trek on up and shout at TVs with you lot. Think would be nice way to spend a day, finally meet people in person.
Me too and I'm a bit closer than you Catfish! My only questions are: 1) FabregasTED, isn't it time to change your username? 2) And when are you going to convince Christy's to change their paint color from blue to red?!
It's mostly red inside! A username is tough. Like, that's who I am and I liked the subtle wordplay, but you're right at somepoint I need to change it.
Hey NorthBank, we had quite a few Stamford Goons make the trip up to watch with us this weekend. Good folks! We showed the game live, and the place went nuts with every goal. Also, we were just mentioned by arsenal on Twitter! Arsenal.com @Arsenal Calling all Arsenal fans in Connecticut! The @NewHavenGoonerswant you to join them for every match this seasonhttp://www.arsenal.com/usa/fanzone-usa/usa-supporters-club/new-haven-ct …
What match in the next few months works best for everyone? Weekends obviously are best for me. How about October 20/Saturday vs. Norwich @12:30 EST I believe. Please let me know, would love to meet more East Coast/New England Gooners.
