During Wednesday's match, Tierney was on the attack and drew a foul after he was tripped (which the Revs, of course, did nothing with the free kick) and I started to wonder if that was the first foul he had drawn all season, as I couldn't recall any others off the top of my head. Well, this "vital" player, who has seen A LOT of the ball throughout his 2, 247 minutes, has suffered 13 fouls all season (to give a little perspective, Alston has drawn 28 in 1, 903 minutes). Simply put: other teams around the league don't think he's vital to stopping the Revs.
He was our #1 pick (5th overall) in 1998. He was the Herman Award winner that ear but slipped to us at #5 because of his size.
NE Revolution@NERevolution Vote throughout tonight's second half for your #Revs Man of the Match presented by Sovereign Bank http://ow.ly/doWJa Everyone vote for Alec Purdie. It annoys me that our tech dept is so lazy that they essentially just copy&paste the roster for this. It should just be the gameday 18. So Im thinking if they have to announce that a player that is even playing(Alec Purdie) is the MOTM, it might embarass them into doing it right
one thing that stood out to me this game was when Rowe was knocked down. Lechner seemed like the only person to run and stick up for this teammate. Everyone one else just seemed to stand there. Another stink bomb by the really both teams. Good news is, they did get points in their last two games!
Wow. This game summed up all the exciting aspects of the last month of Rev games. I'm struggling to find positives, but here goes. Alston's best game in a while. Reis with a couple of stellar saves to offset his random distribution. That's about it for the positives. I'm starting to root for the Revs to make hard fouls just for the sake of getting even, and the cards be damned. One valuable discovery: Pandora on the Eleventh Dream Day channel is way, way better than Brad and Jeff. Can I hear an "Absolutely!"?
Matt earned his Man of the Match today. Philadelphia had many more quality chances than the Revs. They pressed more than the Revs and tried to deny space to Nguyen. I never see the Revs try to deny space to anyone, which gives the other team too much time, which was reflected in Philadelphia's possession and quality chances. It's really a shame the Revs don't put out a better product. We were sitting next to a family that had driven 90 minutes from Connecticut to watch this sorry team in this sorry stadium. But the boy said this was the best day of his life, according to his mother. The potential for enthusiasm is still there; it's too bad Kraft has no interest in making things right.
My vote for MOTM is for Sam Eddy, the (maybe) 11(?) yr old who knocked the Star Spangled Banner out of the park tonight. A few moments of nerves on the opening line or so, but then she **brought out** the pipes. More than anyone on the turf tonight, she most definitely did not mail it in. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe this is her earlier this year, at another event in Mansfield:
Reis had his best game in several years IMO. Loved seemed some of the quickness again. Alston had a nice comeback from a dreadful game on Wednesday. I don't think Rowe gets the whole pro thing. He is soft literally and figuratively. Nguyen takes too many touches before moving the ball along. Diego didn't have that many positive moments which is too bad. There were times when the long ball to Bengson who then headed it forward came close to getting Diego with some free space.
