Staying in the Canary Wharf area, looking for a good simple family friendly bar or pub to watch games without getting beer thrown at us. Any suggestions?

First of all it depends on what sort of atmosphere you want. It sounds like you don't really want to be "in amongst it" for a real good time, so any pub that is open in Canary Wharf and is showing games will be fine. If it's a Saturday then the place is a little dead, as it is a working environment. You are in the heart of the East End once you leave C/W so pretty miuch in West Ham United territory. A lot of the pubs are really old now and have seen better days. A good place to go, and I cannot guarantee that games will be shown be maybe a scouting mission ahead of time, is Wapping High Street, right on the River Thames. A nice part of town, and near to the Tower of London. "Captain Kidd" is one pub, but there are quite a few along that stretch of cobbled street, and Wapping train station on the overground line puts you right in the middle of it. I hope this helps.

P.S. I am in Richmond, VA a lot for the Jefferson Cups and Chesterfield FC tournaments. I will be in VA quite soon. In NYC at the present. :)
