I think MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL now have scarves for every team. I have a Detroit Lions and a Red Wings scarf in my collection. http://www.amazon.com/Forever-Collectibles-Detroit-Tigers-Stripe/dp/B004N2JLJW
I wish more stadiums were built "cheap", I don't use any of that plush crap that drives up the costs of stadiums anyways.
While we're nit-picking, why is the guy sitting down while holding the scarf over his head? That's bad form. If they are intending to show people sitting down, they might as well be realistic and have him fiddling with his iPhone or looking away right as a goal is being scored.
He doesn't seem to have a lot of friends either. I suppose Silicon Valley has lots of socially-awkward types...
Nah. The regular stands are full. Just not too many can afford box seats and club seats even with all the fortunes in the Silicon Valley.
Did they mention what capacity will be? That roof deck...is that where the home supporters will be? If so, that's a ballsy and cool idea.
At first I thought that was the team that opened the 2008 season at the A's stadium, and I was thinking how bad that team was: Eric Denton, Gavin Glinton, Kelly Gray, Ryan Cochrane, etc. But then I saw Huckerby, Lima, Alvarez, etc., and realized that was during the period that the 2008 Quakes team was actually playing very well, and I think this is from the match where they beat LA I think 3-2. There have been good times and bad with the franchise since returning to the league, but this year, with the team doing really well, and the stadium ground-breaking apparently imminent, it's about as good as it gets.
Nice construction. I know its ridiculous, but the first thought I had when I saw it was "if they made it to MLS they totally could build a rail tunnel and have full stands on the riverfront side"
Highmark Stadium (capacity: 3,500) That seems awful small for a newly constructed SSS but maybe, the way to look at it is "that's quite nice for $7.5 million"... Yeah I couldn't help but think that with train tracks and the river on one side, and a big street on the other, MLS expansion would be rather difficult. Which is a shame because it's a nice location and Pittsburgh is a great sports city.
From today's (Saturday, 8/25/12) Team President Dave Kaval's Twitter page regarding today's press conference: -G
Agreed, in addition it drives the beer prices through the roof. Of coarse, the cost of a frosty cold beverage at Buck Shaw is outrageous now so I shudder to think what Wolff will charge to recuperate costs.
Citation for the first part? Even though beer at LSP can be expensive, I doubt it's way above everyone else in the league. And if you're in the member's stand, it can be pretty cheap
