Big one vs. Carolina. They are just 2 points back, we need to win every home game to close out the season since we can't seem to win on the road. Even with our terrible road performance this year, if we can somehow land in 4th place or better, that could give us a path to make another run at the title with a home game in round one of the playoffs.
Tailgate starts at 3:30 PM, and don't forget to call up the Strikers and get a jersey and ticket to Saturday's game for $30. It's a ludicrous deal, if you don't have a jersey yet what are you waiting for?!

Totally with DR on this one - we have GOT to open up a gap between us and the Stars and Railhawks while we have this stretch of four out of five at home. We are so horrendous on the road that I think it is critical we get into the top 4 to host that first round game. After that it's two legs the rest of the way, so we'd be assured of getting a chance at least at home. The schedule favors us for sure. Four home games, and two of our three road games against the bottom feeders, who should by all rights be out of the playoff chase by the final two weeks. Couldn't ask for it to set up better than that....but we have to take advantage, and we HAVE to Defend the Fort!

I jumped on the jersey deal as well. I got my hoops jersey at the beginning of the season, but hadn't been able to drop another $50 on the alternate before now. This week that pays off! Got my alternate jersey for an incredible $30, and donated the ticket to the Strikers Kicks for Kids charity. Great stuff all around!

Now on the field. This is looking like it is going to be another barn burner. Carolina's back line has had just as many problems as ours this year, so another scorefest is all but guaranteed. It's certainly not perfect, but here's what I'm hoping to see tomorrow night:

    Glaeser
    Gordon - Stewart - Stahl - Laing
    Restrepo - Shanosky - Orozco - Anderson
    Herron - Hassan

I feel like Orozco has been slightly better defensively than Pecka has, but oen of the two of them to play defensively in the MF is a must. Teams have obviously figured out that Restrepo and Anderson are the danger men for us, so we need Herron and Hassan both to step up tomorrow night. I think if we get a goal each from them, with Restrepo and Anderson giving us their usual output, we'll definitely get the win even with another sub par performance in the back.

Herron's 65th minute side-netter the difference as the Strikers prevailed: 1-0.
Ft. Lauderdale clearly the better side tonight, Railhawks never really threatened.
Pretty sure they hit a post early on, had Herron taken down in the box and a clear handball on Restrepo's volley w/o a call.
Ref couldn't even break up the fights right................

Pretty much says it says it all. The Strikers 1st shutout in ages and, IMO, their best game played this year. Their defense was excellent, when was the last time you read anyone saying that, and the attack looked better than one goal. A decent turnout of 3,500+ that was probably held down by a rainy Saturday saw a very good Strikers team turn in a complete game for once. I'd have liked another goal or 2 but I'll take the 3 points as we got them. A most satisfying, and very much needed, win.

GO STRIKERS!!! Do it again! And again! And again!
