Suffice it to say, I never thought they'd sell so many tickets so far in advance that they'd add extra bleachers just 2 weeks after the the official on-sale date. Just TWO WEEKS! Awesome! If we sold 12,000 tickets in the presale alone for Jamaica, you have to think that just about all 20,000 will be gone in the presale for the Mexico game.
Does that "Friends of US Soccer presale" still exist? If so, then between that and the Crew season ticket presale, I think you have a very safe bet.
The thing with Mexico, and the posters in the other thread in the US Forums are right.....the thing with Mexico is that there HAS been more and more green creeping into the stadium every successive cycle. We HAVE to make the stadium a sea of white or a sea of red, whatever color.... but have to keep the green out. As US Fans, we are going to have to be uber-vigilant to ensure that tickets get into the hands of US fans and US fans only.
So I procrastinated and finally purchased 4 tickets tonight in row 6 of the extra south bleachers. I was wondering if anyone knew if that is a decent view or not?
This is perhaps a conversation for a different thread, but..... I "think" you're kidding, but just in case you're not.... I would say it's more of patriotism thing than a racist thing. I was flamed back in the day for saying this, but I'll say it again when it comes to the Mexico game.... One of the biggest reasons that C-bus got Mexico in the first place was the preponderance of US Soccer fans and lack of Mexican Soccer fans. I said that we, as US Soccer fans need to be very wary of who we choose to sell extra tickets to and that we have a responsibility to US Soccer to ensure a Pro-US crowd. Does that mean I'm racist? When it comes to playing WCQ's in Columbus, you bet your sweet bippy I am. There has been more and more green popping up with each successiv WCQ. We have to do everything in our power to make sure that this games stays in Columbus and stays a Pro US/Anti Mexico crowd.
I'll contend that this match would not be selling nearly as well if we were still playing Bunker-Bradley ball. People want to be entertained and will pay for it. And Klinsmann has brought a definitively more exciting brand to the pitch
41 days. I hav been practicing my rendition of "Over There" ...anyone want to try to coordinate something for 9/11?
What is this song that you speak of? As in "The Caissons go rolling along...."? That would be awesome.
It would be fantastic if, as a result of the attendance and support, Klinsmann said "This is where I want our big games."
I waited too after having two different options for presale. Ended up getting 3 in special bleachers row 2 last evening. These could end up being really bad or really awesome. Anyone have more insight into how they are setting these up? I guess the consensus is it the will be at the south end where party on pitch is? Will they be right on the ground or up a little? Will we get to pat Demps on the back after he scores? Also there was an option when ordering tix for a $20 parking pass. I didn't do it but will parking be $20 at the gate? I thought I remembered that being discussed but I'm too lazy to go back and find it.
To be honest I would think they are pretty good seats. I have never sat there but I say this because if you look at pictures of all the USA v Mexico games where seats were added in the south end, it seemed to be pretty close to the action.
That's what I'm hoping. I really hope they put in the stage seating. I know at least 8-10 people who are in the same boat as myself in that they've been waiting around on friends out of town to see how many tickets to buy. I definitely think there's going to be demand.
The bleachers are right where the Party on the Pitch tent normally is. I have no idea how they'll be configured, but I'd imagine section 1 will be on the SE corner and section 10 or 11 or whatever it ends at will be in the SW corner, near the office. If you get a low row, you could end up being much more lower and closer than the first row on the sidelines. Depending on your seat location, I could imagine some mild difficulty seeing the scoreboard, but they should be great seats. The $20 pass was/is for the VIP lots. Parking is $10 in other lots.
$10 general parking upon arrival. $20 prepaid parking is for the Crew Stadium paved lot. There is also a $15 prepaid parking pass for the lot on the east side of the stadium.
I think the front row is pretty darn close to the ground, probably up a couple steps, and then regular old bleachers from there on up.
Last time US soccer came to town, some of the general parking was south of 17th near the Celeste Center.
Wasn't that because of the tons of snow we had followed by 50 degree weather where it all melted. Back then we didn't have the paved lots so much of the parking areas near the tracks were inaccessible. At least that is my recollection of why the parking was so bad for that game.
You may be right. It certainly was a weird weather day. The hailstorm before the gates opened was impressive.
