Whoa there friend. We're talking numbers. I've been to at least 2 where the crowd was under 10k and probably two more that were under 15k. Crew Union (and many others) have been working hard to make sure we sell the place out, and we'll be working even harder to make sure the place rocks your balls off on game day! I agree with you mean. Fort Lamar is USMNT's fortress.
I had the Atoms growing up first (and we were pretty good in HS--my sister's class had a 1st team All-American). But SMG was big for me. Best true story--I'm in Cologne and I took a group of my classmates to Koln-Duisburg. A week later one of the gals gets a letter from her mom saying that the showed the game on TV and suggesting she should go. Her reply "You weren't looking hard enough". The oddest part was later that summer seeing reruns of three of the games I went to. Wish I'd had a VCR in those days.
I remember the game and that it was sparsely attended but could not tell you the exact numbers. That game was unexciting in my memory too.
If my research at USSoccer.com is correct, then we've hosted 8 US Men's games. Coincidentally, this is the first non-Mexico game we've hosted since 2004 (Jamaica 11/17/04). This game will mark only the second opponent to play multiple games in Crew Stadium. We've played Mexico thrice, and Jamaica, Grenada, Paraguay, Ecuador, and Costa Rica once each. Interestingly, our average US game attendance is 17,802 (compared to 24,362 for just Mexico). I'm going to say it now.... We'll get the Mexico game again next year.
U-17 (Donovan, Beasley, etc.) in a U-17 WCQ vs El Salvador, perhaps? What about that game in 2000 vs Costa Rica?
Wasn't this game (or was it the Costa Rica game?) the week after the stadium opened? If I remember it correctly, it was a horrific day of weather.
I think the Costa Rica game was a sellout (I was on temp bleachers in the south end) The Ecuador friendly, however, was not even close.
Here is a list of all US mens national team games at Crew Stadium with video(except for one). -Oct. 11, 2000 USA vs Costa Rica.............0-0 Tie at Columbus (Qualifier) -Feb. 28, 2001 USA vs Mexico................2-0 Win at Columbus (Qualifier) -June 07, 2001 USA vs Ecuador..................0-0 Tie at Columbus -July 06, 2003 USA vs Paraguay...............2-0 Win at Columbus -June 13, 2004 USA vs Grenada................3-0 Win at Columbus (Qualifier) -Nov. 17, 2004 USA vs Jamaica ...............1-1 Tie at Columbus (Qualifier) -Sept 3, 2005 USA vs Mexico..................2-0 Win at Columbus (Qualifier) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGGaPgaxY9c&feature=plcp -Feb 11, 2009 USA vs Mexico..................2-0 Win in Columbus (Qualifier) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6_qFGiiTGg&feature=plcp This is the link to the blog that has the majority of US soccer highlights. http://www.soccersubjectively.blogspot.com/2012/05/us-soccer-highlight-bank.html
How many rows are in Section 210? Best Available Pair: Section 210 Row 17 Seats 14+15 Best Single: Section 207 Row 19
The entire upper deck goes up to row 19, on both sides. (For as long as you've been a Crew fan, you really ought to try it out some game. Suffice it to say, it's more "relaxed" up there. It's a different perspective I like to try out once every 3 or 4 years or so.)
I think it tops off at 19... Cleazer beat me to it. I agree. If Nordecke wasn't there, I'd spend every match up there.
I've not tried it but will note that Mrs KG prefers our seats in the upper bowl at Nationwide over the lower for Jackets games.
The horrible weather game was the USA-ES/Crew-Tampa double-header. Another interesting thing about that day was witnessing Carlos Valderrama actually running!
By the way, based on osubowlers post from a few days ago, they still have tickets to sell in 122, 132, and 142. So don't assume that 210 Row 19 are the last seats left in the whole stadium.
What I have been reporting is the "Best Available" based on TM's "X Section". So, logically, one of these two things MUST be true: either TM has said the very top rows of the very most upper corners are better than the lower sections these really are the last seats that Ticket master has been allocated thusfar. I'm choosing option two at this point based on the information I have.
Have the Nordecke sections and OA section tickets been allocated yet? If not, what might happen is that U.S. Soccer puts in temporary seating on the stage, gives the supporter sections those tickets and then open up the two corner sections for public sale.
I'll update the ticket #s again on Sunday seeing as we seem to have decent ticket movement this week.
Doubtful, especially if they've already sent AO/SA tickets out. They'd have to cancel those tickets, re-configure some stuff, and send a lot of people tickets for the stage.
Hey guys...quick question. I am from Las Vegas and a buddy of mine and I are heading to Columbus for the game. I haven't bought tickets yet because I want to sit in a specific section. We want to sit in the most rowdy/fun section as possible. I found 2 tickets on StubHub for section 142. I don't mind spending the extra money on StubHub if it can guarantee me a fun section. Is 142 a good spot or should I be looking elsewhere?
142 is in the area we normally have as the Nordecke, so you will be, at least, "supporter's group adjacent" if you get those tickets. I think our Nordecke USA for this match is 139,140 and 141...
