Playing time is earned in practice. Playing time is kept by match performance. Morgan is no exception.

Playing time isn't earned in practice, Pia has said this. There's players that have out performed the starting 11 in practice yet, don't get playing time or limited playing time. Pia, said something to the likes of "It doesn't matter if a player out performs another in Practice or with their clubs, our starting 11 is based seniority & my preference not current form nor current abilities."

Why do you think it took Morgan so long to be a starting 11? Newsouth is correct the striker we have which is like 12, should have gotten playing time over the last 2-3 years.

6% isn't that huge. And "supposed passing wonders", come on give respect you seen what France can do in terms of possesion. This was one game where it was fairly even in time on the ball. France had better passes thur traffic than us, don't get me wrong we won, our passes weren't as crisp thur traffic.

If it was 6% the other way I doubt you would have called it even! And it's what French fans hang their hat on.. And our passes were just as crisp as theirs through traffic.

So when somebody beats them at their game and at their own, which is speed and power, give credit where credit is due.

I just watched the first half again, and France was playing a lot of long ball trying to get past Beuhler.

    Didn't work.

Sorry if this was covered elsewhere, but I don't see a US crest on their jerseys in any pics I've seen - Anyone know the story behind this?

"Something to the likes of...." Right, cause that doesn't leave room to interpretation.

    Care to share a link?

Watched my recording after work, unfortunately I had the result spoiled, need to schedule time off to watch the next round.

A potent attack coupled with a defense which failed to impress, a similar foreboding to some of the cracks we saw in the WC early rounds.

Who coaches the set play defense? Because after costing them the World Cup, it still looks suspect.

    Nice to see comeback capability.

    But NBC, really?

It would be nice if your audio and video were properly synced, and if someone puts a body on Brandi, would it shut her up? And her partner apparently thinks all Blondes and black players look similar since he can't tell them apart.

Guess they can't handle a not taped and edited for primetime Olympic event.

We didn't have as many dangerous passes thur traffic as them. Most of our passes came from playing down the flanks than cuting in. If the 6% were the other way I'd say the same thing, it was basically even. 6% is nothing. I would have preffered if we had a 15% swing.

France game isn't power, it's speed, possesion, finesse. I agree with you 100% that France was playing alot of long balls so were we. Which was ignoring that we were playing long balls. There's was about 10 mins in the 2nd half where we were playing possesion and making France run around. I loved that, I wished we did more of it. Were obv capable of playing a possesion game, it would make matches so much easier for us.

I didn't not give credit to us for out playing France.

It was in an interview don't remember if it was ussoccer or goal or some other site. There's been threads on here that addressed Pia's comments.

luvdagame, Cliverworshipper you 2 our on the threads, you've read the subject on bigsoccer before.

Yeah. The French can be surprisingly dirty at times. They won't do the overt pushes mostly, but they'll sure make your ankle one big battered bruise by the end.

One of my favorite football players is Abily (and Bompastor's pretty cool too), but it's pretty obvious whenever they get or feel like they got kicked in the ankle -- they roll around on the ground, clutching their ankle, scrunch up their face, and hit the ground dramatically. I suppose that's one way to signal to the ref that they got fouled...

Don't start using me as a reference. I think you made the quote up. Google says so too. Yours is the only one that comes up.

I'm not sure where you get that stat. The scoreboard says we had exactly TWO more dangerous balls than their two dangerous balls, didnt it? And if they were so dangerous, it sure didnt reflect in the SOG, either.

We beat them to balls to gain the possession with speed, and I'll match the finesse Rapinoe showed on three goals to anything France did , I'll say Morgan showed a first touch on her first goal BETTER than anything France did, and Abby sending the ball to the back of the net with her header tops any finesse play France showed.
Heath's cross to just the right spot for the last goal wasn't bad either. And Morgan's tap in had a lot of finesse, don't you think?

Congrats. You win the backhanded compliment of the tournament award so far.

So what happened to our offense once Pia subbed A-rod in for Morgan? I was paying close attention to this and we had zero attack for the last 20 minutes of the game...Not good. Then Pia subs in Leroux in the last 10 minutes like she is supposed to do something with 5 minutes of PT? What was Leroux supposed to show in five minutes? On another note, our back line is very suspect as evidenced by the two quick goals from France. Teams with great strikers (Japan, Sweden, Brazil,France round 2)will be our undoing in the knockout stages unless we can score LOTS of goals. This brings me back to why is Pia giving Leroux no time? Either play her or don't but at least give her 20 minutes or so and perhaps let a defender get a chance to come in for Rachel Buehler because she tends to get kind of goofy in front of goal and I think she is a liability back there. We can't score 4 goals every game.We might need a 2-1 scoreline at some point and she will give it up if you give her enough chances to mess up. Also teams have been and are going to continue to try to take Alex out of the game with dirty tackles, going for her knees and ankles and by pushing her around. Next time some dirty player tries to deal some abuse to#13 the team needs to exact some retaliation and let the others know that we don't accept that crap. If today's officiating is any indicator then the refs aren't going to give us many calls.

Were any men's team members at the game? I know some of them are probably busy in MLS or busy training in Europe, I was just curious.

Yes, I'm very aware. That doesn't prevent them from attending if they so choose. So were any of them there?

The ones that probably were close enough (Bocanegra and Edu play for the Rangers) probably can't make it. It is preseason training in most of the world and a lot of euro teams are traveling or in camp. The MLS players are in mid season. Only Beckham regularly gets to skip matches, and he was probably watching Great Britain.

Yeah, I figured the announcers would have said something, but since I only got to see the second half, I was hoping maybe I missed it. Thanks though, just curious.
