For some reason and I seem to be alone here, I can see Giroud adapting to the PL quicker than Podolski. Its all gonna depend on playing time of course, im basing that assumption on equal opportunities

Honestly, I don't see any of them having problems, especially Podolski who has tons of experience.

I am going to commit heresy and vote for Chamak over Bendy. First, we'll like get more for Bendy. Second, Chamak wants to be here and Bendy doesn't. Third, Chamak will sit on the bench and await his chance - quietly. He accepts that the team is a meritocracy while Bendy thinks that his lack of playing time is everyone's fault but his. In a season where we are all about cohesiveness and being in this together, a player agitating for a move will not be welcome.

If the team is built around Giroud in the center, and, if the early Chamak can re-emerge, he'd be a good fit for that set-up.

Granted, Bendy is talented but he shows no sign of maturing and will likely command a higher price so, if only one goes, I'd prefer it be Bendy. Ideally, we move them both and Arshavin and bring in a Cazorla and a Jovetic and add by subtraction.

A couple things I like about Podolski:

    - He has produced despite a horrible supporting cast.
    - He knows what it feels like to carry an entire team on his back.

He is not an RVP clone, but I think he will help fill the void.

I just realized I've actually seen Cazorla play in person. He scored the first goal in Spain's demolition of the US at Foxboro. o_O

The only hole I see in this is that a player who wants to be here but can't find form isn't any good to us. Otherwise it'd be a no-brainer to hold onto Chamakh and get rid of Bendtner. Obviously you stated the ideal situation in your last sentence. I still can't see someone of Jovetic's price tag coming in at forward after adding Podolski and Giroud. I wonder what Wenger will do if we're able to move all that dead weight at forward. Would he add a 20m player, or would we see a surprise Arteta-type player (age/price wise) come in?

    you're not alone

I think his physicality will be a the first thing defenders notice with Giroud, and will be a good thing for Arsenal.

    Imagine this
    1st squad
    Podolski----Rvp---Walcott
    ---------Cazorla----
    -------Song-----Arteta----------
    Gibbs--Verm---Kos---Sagna
    2nd squad
    Gervinho---Giroud-----Ox
    --------Rosicky---
    -----Wilshere---Diaby------(Ramsey)
    Santos---DJ--Mert---Coquelin

if RvP somehow stays and either one of Jack/Diaby can produce this season, I think we'd win the league.....and I'd imagine if Wilshere and Diaby have any setbacks, M'Vila will be coming our way. Apparently the Daily Mail just wrote that Wenger is still keen on M'Vila. I think their was a purpose on arsenal.com posting those quotes on Wenger being no longer interested; to bring down the asking price, and instill some confidence into the rest of the midfield.

Podolski showed last season that he is much, much better at striker, then on the wing. Im starting to think that with RvP gone, a 4-4-2 featuring Giroud and Podolski up top could be a good setup from Wenger. I could be wrong though, hopefully we'll get to find out.

Could be, not sure why Wenger would purchase such an expensive backup however. I hope both men get a good crack at the spot.

    Various sources:
Can't wait for that 15yr old Venezuelan kid. Once we've got his rickets sorted out, he can definitely do a job for us. And it'll be brilliant to show the world that losing an arm at an early age doesn't stop you being a top sportsman

Hmm, can we really believe Arsene here? I suppose he still has over a month. But it seems to me, the most important thing, besides resolving the RVP situation, is figuring out what to do with want-away and largely-useless players (Bendtner, Arshavin, Park, Squillaci, and maybe Chamahk). Now recently I've read articles saying "Oh, with RVP going, this is the chance for Bendtner or Chamahk to step up." I could maybe see that for the Moroccan, but certainly not Nicolas. Oh, forgot about Johan Djourou — could also do w/o him.

We need to ship these players off and allow youngsters (Yennaris, Miquel, Eastmond, Afobe, Aneke) an opportunity to prove themselves. Lansbury and Bartley are both listed in the first team as well...

We've got some injury issues already heading into the season, but imagining everyone is healthy, here's how I see us lining up:

    ---------Szczesny---------
    Kos---Verm---Mert---Sagna
    ----Song-------Wilshere----
    ---------Rosicky-----------
    Ox---------------------Theo
    ----------Podolski----------

Yep. Move Sagna back to the right and insert Gibbs. Then put Theo on the right, Podolski on the left, and Giroud/RVP (who is still technically on the team) in the middle.

And why would you have Sagna and Walcott on the left side?

Kos as left back? Not going to happen. He is one of the best CBs in the league today and an automatic starter in the middle of the defense, (Verm will likely rotate with Per depending of the matchup). Sagna will be the RB and Gibbs the LB.
In the middle, let's not even try to imagine a healthy Rosicky. He is already out for the next 2 months.
It also puzzled me that folks can think of Arteta not being a starter. That is just insane. He was the linchpin of the midfield last season and when he was out, the team struggled.
We may see a Song-Arteta-Cazorla (if signed) or Diaby (with wilshere gradually coming in).
Finally, Theo on the left is a no go. He can't play there.
A Theo-Giroud-Podolski makes more sense to me.
