thanks for posting. Watched the video, and goals were as I remembered. A few thoughts on the goals...

1- that man can use his head.
2- related to #1, probably 3/4s of the goals were close to or in the 6 yard box.
3- Conversely, pretty sure 0 of the 68 were from outside the 18.

Not that these are good or bad patterns, but pretty apparent where he earns his bread and butter when watching the video.

Hope he performs well. Time to make a move for a defender. Then I will feel better.

Yeah, but that video don't show that after his injury 18 months ago he hasn't made one single goal....

He scored 2 league goals and 1 cup goal in 2011, not the best rate but its also not zero like you are saying. Not that I'd expect you to be optimistic about anything...

Cahill should improve us a lot on set pieces, which is a weakness for us offensively and defensively.

Man, I really did not expect we'd do this much wheeling and dealing before the year. Ream sold, with a bunch of the resulting allocation used for trades to bring Cooper and Conde. Holgerrson brought in. Agudelo for Pearce. Richards for Le Toux. The emergence of rookies Meara and Lade, as well as picked off the scrap heap Barklage. And now Cahill.

Our best 11 has 8-9 first year Red Bulls in it. I know MLS has a lot of turnover, but damn.

He hasn't scored one single goal in the season 2011-2012 and the goals that you talking about I think was in exhibition games and not seasonals games....

2011-2012 season he made 35 appearances and scored 2 goals in the league, plus another goal in the FA Cup... who do you get your stats from, and can you tell him to pass the bottle?

Luke Rodgers scored 13 goals during all his time at Notts County and then scored 9 here last year. Those stats mean absolutely nothing. And it's not like we are gonna ask Cahill to be our goalscorer.

People need to start wasting their time arguing with metz.

This is reportable in my opinion. It's one thing to be negative, another to outright lie. And it's not the first time.

No Sir, He scored his last goal on the league in December 10, 2010, was his last goal....

This is taked from "Wikipedia" "Following his participation in the 2011 Asian Cup, Tim had the longest goal drought in his career. He scored his last league goal on 20 December 2010 away to Manchester City and went the whole of 2011 without finding the net..."

I'm not trying to be negative, I only want to stabilised the facts.... I say before, that I believe that him will be a improvement for the club, but that don't will stopping me to say the true....

Metz, you are wrong. He scored against Blackburn in the league, Sunderland in FA Cup and Fulham in the league in 2012. This is FACT. I know as I was present at all 3 games....

    PROOF:
    Blackburn
    Sunderland
    Fulham

It's really unbelievable that you still refuse to believe that he scored last year after Arteta's Girl linked to three match reports. The goals agains Blackburn and Fulham were in the Premier League and the goal against Sunderland was in the FA Cup. Also, Wikipedia says nothing of the sort.

It (rightly) says that following: "Following his participation in the 2011 Asian Cup, Tim had the longest goal drought in his career. He scored his last league goal on 20 December 2010 away to Manchester City and went the whole of 2011 without finding the net.[29][30] The run stretched to 34 games, but was finally ended when he scored the opening goal, a tap in from close range, in a 1–1 draw with Blackburn Rovers on 21 January 2012."

I can't believe I read the useless posts of someone who's to freaking stubborn and should've checked the team's official website.

Thank God I don't visit this website as much. Rather read my stuff about the team elsewhere...and some of you know which website that is.

Like others have said, you won't get much joy playing him as a classic #10, he really is better used as a second striker. His goals in open play come from his aerial abilities and supreme second ball skills, most of the time he seems to know where the ball will fall before anyone else does. Deeper in midfield he will elude markers and slip into the box but won't create much.

I don't mind putting him as a CM who makes late runs into the box, so long as he's fit enough to get back on defense.

Isn't what I believe or not, I'm tell you what I read in Wikipedia and I don't know why they will say something if isn't true, I just quote what they say, what you want from me...

But to say the true, 2 goals are not to many, Barka as a defender have 2 goals and 4 assist and Cahill in 27 games only 2 goals and 3 assist.... What that say, I don't know, is only posting as a way of information....

Now, If SPN say that he has 2 goals, I believe it too and is OK with me, I just post what I read in a way of information to make emphasis in the change of production of him after his injury.... Because in one of the post I say that I hope his case will not resemble Conde case....

He better have the wheels to do the dirty work in midfield. Otherwise this is a pretty useless signing to me.

Dax has been a beast but you can't expect him to cover the entire center of the park while Cahill, Henry, Cooper, and LeToux go searching around the 18.

Also, Henry drops into Cahill's preferred role ALL THE TIME. I echo the concern that this may be another case of DeRo and Henry running into each other while the center of our midfield is carved apart.

I hope for the best here though. He's a great player. No question about that.

    Edit:
He's an immediate upgrade on set pieces which have been problematic for us.

That's adorable Metz. Wikipedia isn't a "they" unless "they" is everyone. It is not a reliable source as anyone can edit it at any time.

And, much as I hate saying this 3 goals in the EPL isn't exactly the same as Barklage popping off goals in MLS. EPL defenders are much higher quality and Everton struggled this last year.. They don't get too many great chances a game.

It depends on what kind of player you're getting to see how they transition to MLS. And the tenacious little poacher I've seen says we get Luke Rodgers esque predatory instincts from the midfield with a boatload of quality, aerial threat and work rate.

And if Henry is dropping into Cahill territory you either put Cahill up top or tell Henry to friggin stop or you'll sit him on the bench for Le Toux, or someone who won't go roaming off out of proper formation.
