Is there a better name in music these days than Butterfly Boucher?

"If there is a better band out there, I haven't heard them."

    Bob Dylan on his band
--I agree, but he's heard a couple more bands:)

Maybe it needs to be on my buy list. I'm due to buy something as the shelves are not inspiring me these days.

It's worth it. It's sad bastard music, but the good kind of sad bastard music.

I can't even remember the last time I returned or sold back an album -- because I'm pack-ratish about music and because I usually hold out the hope that I'll be able to return to so-so records years from now and either find something new and positive in them or remember the time period when I bought them.

But I've given these two more than enough chances, and today they are going back to the orphanage:

I figured it was time to finally put poor Ade to rest. Besides, I'm definitely eager to hear what Howlin' Pelle and Co. have put together for their latest outing. I heard "walk idiot walk" on KEXP this morning and loved it. New CD comes out in July.

BTW, I'm reading "40 Watts from Nowhere" right now. Interesting to read that your various noms de radio were Italian soccer players.

The Hives are the law and you are the crime.

Are The Troggs the greatest band of all time? Not if Super Furry Animals have anything to say about it.

Fans of Radiohead and hillbilly music might enjoy this mp3. Maybe not.

I thought all public radio DJs regardless of genre had the same style.

The highest form of the inside joke, i.e. amusing to an audience of one.

Re: The Hives -- and their embodiment of law, and our embodiment of crime:

Much like Samuel Beckett creating his best work in French, there's something about non-native English speakers and brilliant lyrics:

"Sound device and lots of ice I'll spell my name out loud because I wanna!"

when did adult comtemporary jazz become "smooth" jazz and why do they think we wouldn't notice that it was the same crap?

(listening to "Giant Steps" and remembering that the DJ at my brother's wedding played a "smooth" jazz version of that record during dinner)

I love getting music news via Big Soccer avatars:
I had no idea Bebel Gilberto had a new album coming out.

    So Footix, how is it?

Damn -- it was just released today (so I've now found out). I've not heard a note. I'm so un-looped.

Glad to hear it's good. Love, Love, Lurve the first one.

Yeah, I like it too. It's a bit more commercial in an unoffensive Dido-y way in places, but it finally lets me hear her in a different setting than Tanto Tempo, which I've spun possibly more times than any disc I've picked up in the last few years.

There's a new geeks-are-people-too movie being released this week: Napolean Dynamite.

As many probably know, that was Elvis Costello's nom de guerre on Blood and Chocolate (One of several he used. It seemed he was trying to sort out the whole Declan McManus thing.)

Anybody know if Elvis just thunk that up? Or is it a reference to something else?
