I personally doubt he would want to come over here. But that's just my opinion.

"Rules have been made to be broken"; people say. ...The Impact has found a solution to jump the DP rules, they sign Alessandro, possible they will pay him under $ 335K this year and the next when they have the DP spot empty; he will get his money....
RBNY perfectly can do the same, get a CAM and a Striker for 18 Months each, one get pay DP money this year and the other next and like this we can have two first class player with just one DP spot... Of course in the second year one of them can go for more time....The idea will be to bring a player like Riquelme to play for us just for one season and the other two stay a little longer....

    How about that?.....

I say brake the rules in a figurative way, because doing what the Impact are doing; they are not braking any rule, the only they are doing is signing a player for 3/5 Mil this year and 100K next; or viceversa.....

There have been so few rumors over the last couple of weeks. We know it is not Seerdorf now that he is with Internationazional in Brazil. They have denied Ballack, it is not Nesta of course, etc.. It is so often someone that we have not heard of but Kaka, Stephen Ireland, and whoever else. I can believe that rumor for that player from Blackburn but he is not our DP. I hope we hear at least some more rumors soon

I hear Anelka is leaving his Chinese team. Would not shock me if we get him for Henry.

Do you think we should look for our DP in our current league?

I think Benny Feilhaber would be the ideal DP we are looking for. The Revs seem like the type of organization that doesn't really care about the product on the field and would probably look to profit off of him imo. How does transfer fees between two MLS teams in the MLS work exactly?

We would need to trade for someone and that probably has no shot of happening. Why would a team want to help us, especially a team like NE who we are competing with for spots in the playoffs?

Because a team like NE doesn't really care about winning. The Krafts don't invest into that squad and will look to profit off of Benny if given the chance. Would a transfer fee similar to that we offered for Smeltz or around 700k be enough? Will a transfer fee of 700k with a nice young player like Tyler Ruthven and future picks be enough?

If I'm not mistaken Benny signed a 2 year contract that was borderline coming into the MLS. I'm sure Benny will want an increase and I don't think NE will pay him. It's wishful thinking but I don't think it's impossible.

I find that notion to be false. The same NE team that just signed a new DP doesn't care about winning? Jay Heaps who is eager to prove that he can be a good coach doesn't want to win? By all accounts he is happy with Benny and he isn't under a DP salary so they have no real reason to move him. He is making decent cash though but it's not DP.

Do we even have 700k in allocation money? Even if we did that's a ton to trade away when we need it for a lot of things for our team. I don't think a team has ever traded away that much allocation money ever.

Of course Heaps wants to win but I don't think the ownership really puts an emphasize on winning hence the lack of investment during the last couple of years. But I guess them signing a recent DP probably changes that notion. It's just a thought and nothing serious about it. I just think he'll be the perfect player we are looking for.

Read something that said Andrea Cossu from Cagliari turned down a move to MLS. Maybe we were looking at him, don't know.

Rumors emerging about signing Ireland on Twitter and The Viper's Nest, but apparently the other teams won't let it happen without a fight, particularly RSL.

Not the most credible sources, but still.

I see a few tweets, specifically one guy to another bringing up a supposed deal. However I cant see from whom these rumors came.

Me thinks we will be disappointed as looks like we are unprepared from a front office standpoint.

Well Empire of Soccer and Brian Lewis have reported that the team is in negotiations with a DP, and one of them was told that by Backe.

The beat writers who report from training, including Brian Lewis who writes for the Post, generally hear it straight from Backe or a representative of the club.

Well, I meant who in the club but I guess it doesnt matter too much. Idk who it could be if Backe remained set on a younger DP. They may have settled for an older one if they couldnt get a younger but I cant imagine it being someone like Ballack.
