"Undoubtedly" is clearly an overstatement on their part (it is TalkSport after all) but I thought it was close between him and Terry (especially given the controversy that has followed JT and will only increase as the court date approaches).

On reflection, I would say that OBE was the best English player at Euro 2012. That says more about England I think, than it does about Gerrard.

Spain is supposed to start 3 forwards v Italy. Could Torres be one of them?

If you consider Iniesta and Silva forwards, than yeah they probably will. Del Bosque hasn't even started one forward in half the games they've played, no chance in hell he starts 3 against Italy.

That said, I think Spain has looked sharpest and most dangerous when Torres has been the guy up front, though he still needs to finish better. I really hope he gets the start tomorrow. Would be a shame if he doesn't. Fabregas can come on somewhat early if he's having a rough day.

Fyp. Given how cagey finals tend to be, it's more likely that Del Bosque will drop the shamefully adventurous Silva and bring in Martinez as another holding player. Spain will have 85% possession, 0 shots and will win 1-0 on an Italian own goal after a moment of madness causes Alba to accidentally cross the ball into the box.

I thought their first match in the tournament was pretty good.

With everything on the line, I expect a much MUCH more conservative match.

The two passes that lead to goals by Iniesta/Xavi have been breathtaking. My goodness. Who needs Torres when you have a leftback?

Difficult to see a way back for Italy. Two great goals from Spain.

Terrible final. This ended as a competition at the hour mark. Italy killed themselves making those early subs.

Good to see Torres and Mata on the scoresheet though!

Who wins The Golden Boot? Gomez. Xavi/Iniesta have HAVE to share the Player Of The Tournament Award. Young Player? Christ, no one springs to mind.

For someone with such a poor season, he's won the golden boot at the Euros, won the Euros, won the FA Cup, won the Champions League, including scoring arguably the biggest goal of the CL.
I want to have a bad season like that someday!

Torres wins the Boot because he had 3 goals, 1 assist, and he's played fewer minutes than Gomez.
