Yeah, I just start coming back on the site every now and again.I never should have left, just fell out of the habit. Still see a lot of the old crowd around here,Benni, manc, sdot, vince, bronaldo et al. Those were the good old days before tiki-taka conquered all...
He will be a 10 as long as we play 442 which we will do alot and honestly I prefer Welbeck as our 9 more than Rooney.
Congratulations Italy, much the better team, and deserved winners. After 25 mins, England offered pretty much nothing. Despite this being probably England's poorest squad in my lifetime, the performances overall were poor. Hopefully Hodgson doesn't see the defend deep, no pressing, slow counter as the future of the English game, or it will be a depressing few years.
Yeah, we are a tough clique in here More seriously, hope to see you posting around here again for the Italian/Serie A perspective though BobanFan has done a good job of it recently. Let's wait for how we play Kagawa before jumping to conclusions.
I just dont see what he offers as a winger, I just dont, put things for him on a plate and he might pull off a goal but that are not what wingers are for.
The question for England is now, how will Hodgson move on? This Euro was a washout, low expectations that may have irrationally risen as the tournament went on - but either way, there was an excuse the whole time. This tournament didn't matter. If England continue to set up in this 4-4-2 defensive strategy, which I imagine he will, English football will continue to waddle in this 2nd - 3rd tier of national teams. By this point, there must be a script Gerrard can read from for the post match.
Whoever made the Balotelli Bingo needs to do one for England in the press - BRAVE/HEROIC/STIFLING/COURAGEOUS/BROAD SHOULDERS/PROUD/LION.
I was watching it as well and almost threw up, they also made it appear like it was a close match. How Terry vindicated his selection with a late block after being caught out of position in the first place.
We've been over it a thousand times. It's why Terry > Rio apparently. Saving a sticky situation is apparently better than avoiding it all together.
Yeah never mind. Anyway, justice. So Italy and then Spain are playing with something like 2 days less of rest compared to Germany and Portugal. Also, apparently Schweinsteiger's ankle is bad enough that he might get dropped. He was mediocre last game.
To state the obvious, penalties are about technique but mostly composure. Italy had the technical advantage but going 1 behind is a real psychological strain, particularly after failing to win a game they dominated. Might be overanalysis but I thought Pirlo pulling this out of the bag (rather than a standard penalty) at such a critical time must have been a morale boost for Italy and a knock for England.
I tuned out when it went to extra time....had PKs written all over it. Question -- why were the English players so out of shape? They looked tired after about 50 minutes.
Yeah, if your team ethic is boot the ball and run, you have to at least be able to run. That would have been a woeful display even for the Americans.
