Sorry, that was inaccurate. Both games were played in the US, not in Mexico. But still, the point remains.

So that's your way to end the discussion? No arguments, just insults?

Let me know when you find someone on the USMNT boards that preaches the same thing you're preaching here. Nevermind! I found you, NAD sock.

I'm not preaching anything, I'm just trying to keep the discussion both respectful and level-headed. I don't think that because we win a GC final we can now go and say the US is garbage. Doing so is both factually wrong and useless for the purposes of discussing the game that we will play against them in August (which is the focus of this thread). That's it. Look for my posts in other threads and you'll see that I do the same when I'm in their forums. If in your mind that amounts to kissing someone's ass, that's your problem, not mine.

That is a reasonable thing to say, and I agree with that. In fact, I specifically said that "Mexico currently has the edge" in the rivalry in a previous post.

Then what are you bitching about? That they're not really garbage like we're saying? They are though. Jeez.

So trying to have a respectful and mature discussion, based on facts and arguments is somehow equal to "defending the nads". Way to go.

Why are you being respectful about them in the first place?

I blame manuel for posting his topic about a "respectful" thread title which looks like it made you get all hot and bothered about showing respect.

You are defending, what else are you doing?

The fact that you are asking me to explain to you why I think it's important to be respectful in a darned discussion forum says it all. You clearly don't care about it, but I, for one, think there is no point in calling names, insulting, derising, or otherwise humiliating our rivals, no matter who they happen to be. It's just not constructive for purposes of the discussion, which is, after all, the reason why we come to a soccer forum.

Pretty good wallpaper Manuellon. But all my programs cover gio's face since its on the left side. Is there a way you can use the mirror effect so that the nads are on the left side and Chich/Gio are on the right?

You're defending the silly notion that they deserve respect. They do not. They are not on our level, and we gotta get the message across to the Mex directives that this is a waste of our time. They think that we think this is a big deal. That's why they scheduled it, they think it will be a sellout.

And nad fans think this is a "classic rivalry", like Ali-Frazier or some sht. It isn't. No one in Mexico gives a fck about these clowns. The nads only creeped up on us last decade because we let our guard down, but that was an anomaly that won't happen again. They have no one like Landy and dmpsy coming up, their "glory days" are over. Things are back to normal in CONCACAF, and this "mex-usa rivalry" was nothing more than a blip. Like a sitcom episode where the cool guy turns into the geek and the geek turns popular, but then at the end, everything goes back to normal for the rest of the series.

Check out how many reps the spazzos gave manuel's goofy wallpaper over in the nad thread for this game. They all wet themselves because they think this game is as important as that wallpaper erroneously makes it seem. We should get the message across to the spazzos and Mex directives that this isn't a "grand showdown". The nads and their fans aren't worthy of that distinction, they have not earned it.

Just because they are not on our level does not mean they don't deserve our respect, if anything most of the times we lost against them was because of that arrogance, our current crop of players thankfully don't share your point of view they respect their players and take them seriously and beat them.

Regarding the first point: tell that to the 100,000 thousand fans that will show up at the stadium and the millions that will be watching. They'll be happy to know your opinion.

Regarding the second: you have no evidence to substantiate that claim. We won the last Gold Cup and that's it. I don't understand why all of the sudden people think we are miles ahead of them. We even tied the last friendly with them in Philadelphia, don't you remember that? We may be the better team right now, but for all that we know, the matches against them are still very competitive.

The rivalry is there, whether you like it or not. And it is a good thing.

That was a friendly. Nothing much to really read from that game other than Hobbit wasn't NT material. Brek Shea and Robbie Rogers were involved in that tie, where are they now? You can't judge teams based on that friendly.

It's not a good thing to have a rivalry with them, it's an embarrassing thing. We should progress towards rivalries with real teams, not them. Falling back to a rivalry with them isn't progress.

You're in Mexico now, but you're from usa, correct? If more Mexicans from Mexico, who never lived up here, chime in and say that they truly feel this is a rivalry and they pay attention to nads, then I'll rescind my point. But from the Mexes in Mexico I've talked to, they don't really care about usa nt.

I'm with you in that we should progress towards rivalries with better teams, and precisely because of that I want the US to keep making progress. I don't want them to go back to be the "geek" in the series, I want them to remain competitive and want the same to happen with Honduras, Costa Rica, etc. That's the only way we'll move to the next level. Tell me what we got from all those years that we were the undisputed kings of this crappy soccer region.

And no, I'm not from the USA. I lived there for a while, but I was born in Mexico and have lived here for most of my life. Since I was 12, I've been to Azteca almost every time we've played against the US. We didn't care too much about those games back then, but we do know. Believe me, we do. I invite you to come down here and experience it yourself.

I'm with you as far as not insulting other people (be it the USNT or your mom) as long as they are reciprocating. But the definition of a nad is that they do no reciprocate that respectfulness. You've seen the Gringo's Wall of Shame, right?

Yeah, the "rivalry" is there I guess, but it's not like Mexicans go home at the end of the match and say, "we're on top baby! we just beat the US!". It's not something to brag about. Like It's called FOOTBALL said, we need to step up out of the CONCACAF and establish a rivalry with the bigger teams.

One other thing, we didn't just win the last Gold Cup, we won the last TWO Gold Cups. Both in emphatic fashion. This is a waste of a FIFA date for Mexico. End of Story.

The US just set this friendly up because they see us succeeding and they want to take a shot at us to gain some confidence lol
