The vote passed as far as I know, more foreigners will make the league better IMO, in the short run this hurts the local players, in the lung run it will benefit them (maybe not the forwards since most foreigners will be attacking players).

Dude, seriously that money can be used for the youth development. Some of those players aren't even worth that much money. (expect Drogba).

Great that it's finally official with the Drogba move, Shenhua need him asap, I just wonder when he will make his debut?

As for the increase in foreigners to 7 within the squad, I'm not a fan and I don't wanna sound hypocritical but ouside taking away spots from Chinese players, stunting the development of young players and probably hurting the national team I can only see the move being a detriment to the league. The reason why I believe this is that the current 3-1 foreigner role on the field will still apply meaning now you're gonna have 3 foreign players sitting on the bench instead on 1 which we currently have. That means when substitutions are made who do you think the manager gonna put on? Add the fact that you are essentially paying for 3 bench warmers what is this gonna do to the finances towards the clubs? Now that might be okay for Evergrande but not for the smaller clubs who will probably overspend just to compete and it's not like the Chinese FA have financial safeguards to prevent this.

I disagree. The more recogniseable players move to the CSL, the more media coverage and fanbase it will create. In China, football is already viewed as pretty much the joke sport and has very little credibility, the new generation of youth aren't interested in football, they'd more rather play snooker or basketball so the pool of potential players dwarfs. With attractive new players and better results in continental club tournaments (albeit with foreign players), this could easily attract more people to games and subsequently lift the lower and poorer clubs by giving them more revenue.

Long run, this is very good for the game in China. Plus our current NT isn't good enough anyways on the world stage so might as well prepare for the long haul.

Drogssss. Must have been one hell of a deal for him to finally decide on shenghua over some of the other teams who were rumored to be in for him (RM?).

I believe the change in foreign players only applies to teams in the AFC champions league. i dont think its been pushed to all teams yet.

knowing from the 急功近利 of the chinese football bosses, i dun think youth development is in their first priority. if adding one more foreigner is passed, i am afraid it does affect the system of chinese football.

if we look at current CSL system, not alot of teams are interested in using youth players. let's say on average, each CSL team has two forward spaces, and the teams used foreigners (drogba, anelka, barrios etc) as striker..there won't be much spaces left for local chinese players, not to mention youth players..

with youth players having less time to play in CSL first team, this affects our U-22 and U-19 teams. we are lucky for now to have shandong luneng and hangzhou greentown focusing on using youth players now.

if you ask me if i am in favour of one more foreigner, i would say no.

Yes, it only applies to teams currently in the ACL (at least for this season), so it means only Hengda can add foreigners.

to support my "no more foreigner please" argument:
here's a statistic of top 20 goalscorers in CSL right now:
    http://sports.163.com/special/00052JK3/zcsjkyp.html

if you could read chinese, the only chinese dude on the list are:
liu jian (who isn't a striker), yang xu, qu bo, yu dabao (should be there somewhere with three goals), and facepalm.

Yes but that only affects strikers. With top strikers in front, it will improve the feeding and defending of results. Its not just about scoring in football ya know.

Drog and Anelka can score a goal a piece and due to the shit defence, they can still lose 3-2.

This way, with pressure from top class foreigners, they'll have to improve the rest of the squad. Since Haidong, we've never had a solid striker of any sorts, that is true, but as Anelka said, its not about the front half of the team, and more about the core of the team, defence/midfield where its the weakest (attributing to why Anelka has been getting such poor service upfront).

Bring big stars, attract new fans/youth to football = 5-10 years time, more players available to clubs. The reason theres not many youth playing football is cos they're all shit atm or not confident enough at their own ability. Put them alongside top foreigners even if its just in training and not on the field and it will improve them. I read somewhere China's current pool of players is around 40k...thats weak, we need to build the sport first and the only way to do so is to attract attention to the sport via marquee players.

Um, not sure how I feel about this, instead of having a rule that will effect the whole of the league and could be a bonus or detriment to Chinese football were now in a situation where this new foreign rule will only affect Guangzhou Evergrande so they keep all their extra forigners. Only in China:rolleyes:
