If they start Carroll I just hope they don't start pumping the ball long into the box every time they get it. That's the tendancy when ever he's up there.. Don't play Downing with him either, he floats his crosses which only gives time for the two centre defenders to beat the crap out of the man in the middle. Carroll does tend to come back and help with defence especially when he gets lonely up there, he doesn't speak Swedish and can't even get into a decent conversation going. Melborg?Melberg? (The big thug with the beard!) will be all over him like a rash.

I guess we'll have to see if Woy will let the team go over the halfway line and not gather around the double decker in the penalty area. Especially if we score early. There's no way that Woy will defend a goal we score from the front like the Krauts did.

Me, concerned, nervous, what makes you think that...

I won't be able to watch until later but I found a 6 pack of Newcastle Brown I can sip! as I watch, that might help Andy out. :)

It's hard for me to ballance the sound.

Especially if he's doing the comms..."Ian Darke".
In 1923 they won by 5...England.

Comments like that really help. He must have a whole herd of assistants googling up any piece of relevant (or not) trivia he can continually spew for the full 90 minutes. Got to blank him out without losing the crowd atmosphere.

I see Sweden bought back Jonas Olsson into their starting lineup, that will make it harder for Carroll.

Let's hope we can get our shit together enough to put at least two passed em. I'm feeling strangely confident in them. (Milner playing does put me off though - let's hope he can come up with something)

I suspect this is not going to be an easy night for us, Sweden will have improved alot and could spring a surprise. Personally I would be happy with a draw, because this Ukraine team doesn't look up to much, I would be more confident of beating them, than Sweden

The set up worries me to be honest. If Parker and Gerrard don't move up closer to the forwards, then we're just going to have gaping gaps between midfield and forwards, and in all 3 games I've seen from Hodgeson, he's asked his 2 midfielders to be defensive cover first and foremost. At least with the French game set up, there were a possible 4 players spread around up front in Welbeck, Young, Ox, and supposedly Milner (though they could have done better in those roles, the idea was there). This set-up looks predictable, and we may see more long ball than we would hope. Carroll has to give more than just a set piece\cross threat. I hope I'm wrong.

we need a hatfull. i think roy will do what is needed. i cant justify it, i have no evidence to site, but i just feel he will do enough to get us top of this group. tonight is as key as the french game. hopefully he goes for more than 1-0. anyway, logging off till half or full time. fingers crossed.

Good first half.. Milner has played in some decent crosses.. Gerrard's cross to Carroll for the goal was picture perfect.
