Congrats Germany. A deserved win. It's just that I'd rather would have lost to another team. ;)

Gomez is a true killer, RvP should watch and learn. And Lowe is playing more Dutch than van Marwijk.

    What a nightmare.

Good luck in the next round.

I'm damn glad that I was wrong. What a performance by Gomez. He has permanently displaced Klose IMHO.

I made the same mistake, I still think klose is better for our system, but gomez can clearly deliver and i think he's the highest scorer in the tournament. Not bad, not bad at all...

You shouldn't come to such a conclusion though. Klose can still score and there was a good chance for him when he came on. He just needs to be fit, and I hope he can get more playing time in our third game. Which by the way, should feature the following:

    -----------------Neuer-----
    Boa---Hummels---Badstuber---Lahm

    ----Khedira/Bender---Schweinsteiger---

    Mueller--------Oezil----------Schuerrle

    ---------------Gomez/Klose--------

The first goal was brilliant..dat turn. Couldve been against any defence if you ask me. I see a bit of luck in the second if im honest - great shot though. Podolski wasnt his usual self..oh wait he was. Reus to start and Goetze on 60th/70th min please! Vast improvements in several areas and kind of relieved that Hummels was incredible twice in a row not just the once.

Did anyone notice how frighteningly effective was Lahm in subduing Robben, he tackled him each time and disposed him off in a shameful manner...

There's room for both, (just not at the same time  ). Use Klose when you need to break down teams that have shut down the midfield with effective pressing.

Boateng is going to miss the Denmark game, right?

I am shocked that Podolski has yet to miss a minute of this Euros.

I would really love to see Klose get some more playing time, but if Gomez is going to be scoring at will then let's go for that, too.

Oh he is? Well then - that doesn't bode too well.

I have to celebrate Hummels' performance, I had questions about his ability, but damn - is he one hell of a defender. He does everything, could've even scored. Pique should take a look and learn.

Also, Badstuber has been solid as hell - if there were any doubts on his ability to defend, I hope everyone has shed them now...

Oh two goals by Gomez?! Must be quite a sting for the Gomez haters. But don´t despair there will be matches when he doesn´t score again and then you can start over again that a 34 years old player, who has been injured in the last couple of months will be the better solution in the first team.

P.S.: Not a Klose hater, but to play Klose in the first team after his injury and lack of match fitness instead of Gomez would have been a very strange decision by Löw imho. So am really glad he didn´t listen to many so called experts in TV and in online football forums.
Having said that I hope he listens to the "experts"(including me) who tell him to replace Podolski!;)

Nice, the girls are pretty hot too. If only they were showing more skin, we could add them to the Girls of the EM thread:D

I don't know if we were that good today or Holland was that bad. Maybe a lot of both. The 'Mez was fantastic at finishing, thought Loew would've rotated Klose to start but he kept to his guns. Now where's that thread where everybody picked the 'Mez to choke in the Euro?:inlove: Poldi again sucked, don't know how he can start the next match. Lost and out of position the entire match. If only he would've shown up, we would've scored a few more. Reus or Shuerlle are better options IMHO. Oezil has been ineffective too but you get the feeling he's about to have a great game. Mueller also.
Hummels was great as ever, even helping out on offense. Boa & Bads were solid, the defense looked very strong.

Holland bow out after 2 matches, who'd have thunk it? And Germany looks like they're cakewalking to the final.

Portugal??? wtf? that's we played like crap...and the same goes for Gomez for only having 33 touches of the ball.

Man city..we didn't him to score..they beat themselves with their internal problems.

Madrid..yeah..madrid..where he only scored once out of 10000000000000 chances wasted. Sure that counts.

Napoli..those goals were good, but obviously not good enough to let him have the confidence to score in the CL final..because of him we lost.

What a poor performance! Holes opened up all over the place in defense, and completely incoherent in the attack. Loew and Germany are getting awfully lucky to start this tournament. I guess he's gotten scared and just want to play defensively - if the other team don't score then your team can not lose.

Evaluating this squad honestly, I can sympathize with Loew, our defensive back 4 is pretty poor. In the first 30 minutes, they looked like they had just waken up from a nap. There were at least 4 clear defensive errors, which had the Dutch been on form, would have resulted in goals.
Loew knows there is a weakness (mental and technical) at the back, so is compelled to play 2 predominantly defensive midfielders (Schweinie and Khedira) as the 2nd line of protection, which has worked (1 goals conceded in 2 games). But the flipside is neither can combine effective with Ozil, so the midfield playmaking has suffered. (Yes I know, it was Khedira who set up Gomez's goal against Portugal, and Schweinie who set up the 2 Gomez goals today, but they weren't the results of good attackgi but rather due to defensive errors\misalignment, and as a whole Germany's attack has been woefully incoherent in the first 2 games of the tournament.)
To cast his dice on the defensive side even further Loew has decided to play 2 faux wingers (Podolski and Muller). This despite of having real actual attackers and wingers on the bench - (Goetze, Schurrle and Reus) in addition to wingers who didn't get called in the squad - (Marin, Hermann, ...), which shows that Loew's first priority is not give up goals, and scoring goals is secondary.
This I find ironic and almost unsavory, isn't the new and improved "Germany" supposed to be fun and offensive? Who knew Loew has similarity to Rehagel? Tsk, tsk.

These first two performances have not satified me, and if we keep playing in this fashion, we will continue to get exposed, and then luck will be our sole savior. Who knows perhaps Loew is right, our team can't defend without massive help from midfield, and that any team can "perform a Switzerland" on us otherwise? But still, I would rather play positively and play well and lose than play negatively and win. Anyone out there in internet-land agree with me?

Your ****** kidding right? This is the type of **** that drives me crazy about some German fans, go home and shut the **** up. If you have children I am sure they have moved out, if you haven't yet had kids please don't, no one can live up to your ideals.
Germany is sitting on 6 points after 2 matches in the group of death and you are unsatisfied?

Likewise I didn't think Hummels and Badstuber could form a cohesive enough partnership right now but they have. Best defense in the tournament so far, in their confidence, composure and maturity. They seem to complement each other as well and because both are competent passers of the ball we aren't losing anything in our transitions. My opinion of Badstuber has grown significantly due to the past two matches. I think he loves playing next to someone like Hummels.

only about half true I reckon. Loew isn't "compelled" to play Schweini and Khedira due to defensive weaknesses.

but you are right that Germany have had lady luck with them. Pepe off the x-bar in the Portugal match, and Van Persie missing that early chance today by hitting straight at Neuer.

Hummels made 2 major defensive errors today, and was punished for one of them. I thought he could have done better on his chance as well.

I'm not of the opinion that you just throw on 7 attackers and 3 defenders and have instant success. Balance and a solid foundation are important.

All I'm saying is to field the best team and let's shoot it out. It's justifiable to field 2 DM's but why not field 2 attacking players in the wing positions? Play the best players and play some good football that's all I'm saying.

But I know Loew is just playing the percentages, and maybe he's right, we will all see when the tournament ends. BTW, I hope Germany win too, I'm just sick of tactical football.

Score 3 goals playing attractive attacking soccer but give up 4 because you don't wish to address the tactical issues presented by your opponent. have I got that right ?
