what a disgrace. Central America being tough place to play is an excuse that works when we struggle against Costa Rica, Honduras or ever El Salvador... but not Guatemala, the 5th-best team in Central America.

FT 1-1. Well, we've held serve: a point on the road in CONCACAF. Our mini-tournament goes to PKs ;)

We learn something about our personnel. Klinsmann can crunch some Excel macros.

We re-learn something about road WCQs: field, ref, amped-up opponents.

terrible result... we were down a man in far worse conditions in the 2008 game and still came out with a 1-0 win... no excuse, im sorry but i think im entitled to whine and moan about this team for a few days

This was a great sub. Guatemala had the momentum and was pressing. It took them out of their rhythm and took some time off the clock as well as clogged the middle.

Oh ... and Altidore was terrible. Klinsmann should have left in Gomez if he had something left in his tank.

I'm happy with the point. One step closer to the hex.

I'm about as anit-Juergen as anyone, but this game was never gonna be pretty and no matter who the coach is I'd take a point down in Guatemala every single time.

In the end this result gets us closer to qualification rather than further from it. Nothing to brag about though.

A scrappy performance in a traditionally very difficult venue. I will HAPPILY take this point. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand qualifying in this region.

actually pretty funny result .. (I have been watching the last seven of our qualie rounds so I can say that).

I posted a few days back that JK needed to publicly comment on the CONCACAAF reffing quality.

What do you think now JK? Welcome to CONCACAAF crapreffingfest ...

JK should have kept Gomez in.

    a point is a point.

Hopefully JK learned some lessons from playing away in DirtyGuatLand.

While the ref did not want to hear from Boca or Bradley during the match he certainly was joking around with the Guat players.

3 DM's is stupid. Edu is close to useless with Jones and Bradley already there.

We should be playing a 4-2-3-1.

yes I agree...the goal is to qualify, but lets show some pride in the process. I want to see these guys run their ass off and not play scared when ball lands on their feet!!!

We had disappointing results with Bob and now we've had some disappointing results with Klinsmann. At what point do we say that the players are the problem?

I think we underperformed and should have walked out with the win. The refs had a terrible call on the foul on ruiz which setup their goal. I'll take a tie on our toughest match in the round. Give Guatemala some respect they played their hearts out. Still think the ref's call was bullshit. Terrible officiating!

Everyone blaming JK get over yourselves. I felt we dominated a lot of the match and much of the outcome is to blame on the refs.

This is Bigsoccer. We are all crazy. Not an accurate representation of even the hardcore USMNT fans. However, saying that, I'm pissed. But not about what everyone else is. I'm pissed Pappa has never and will never play that well in a Fire jersey.

The result is acceptable. That cannot be debated. Win at home, draw on the road.
The process, on the other hand, is quite another matter.
