FCDallas.com under club history states that since 2006 FCD has had international affiliations with UANL and Paranaense. I'm just curious as to what this means (i.e., what exactly is our relationship?) and is this uncommon within MLS? (I know Real Salt Lake has worked out some sort of relationship with Real Madrid, but to be honest, I have no idea what that really means either). So what is the nature of this relationship and what are the practical benefits? Is it just loans or future friendlies or what? Thanks in advance.
DAMN! You beat me to it! Anyways, yes, it's for player swapping and preseason fake cups. I believe the only player we've got from either was Ricardinho. That worked out swell...
I believe Ferreira played for CAP also, though it might have been at least some of Pareja's influence to get him. Also, we'd likely have never heard of Jacobson nor remember Dax if Rocha had cared to be here.
Yup. Richardinho, Rocha, Ferreira, and Jackson. We also trained at their facilities one year, and they did an FCD tribute kit. There were some friendlies as well, and I forget, but they may (or may not have... anyone?) participated in the Trinidad thing with FCD one pre-season. The CAP partnership was Michael Hitchcock's best idea (maybe his only good one). Shame it's atrophied lately. Tigres partnership was home and away friendlies with a cute little trophy, and I think FCD did a Tigres tribute kit the first year (not sure if/when it was worn in a game).
Any particular reason you would welcome him back? He was a little ninny bitch the entire time he was here.
That's pretty cool... And, I may be jumping the gun here, but with Shea going to train in Arsenal over the winter break, are we seeing a relationship forming there? Or was that just an ad hoc sort of situation?
Ahhh. Glad to see it paid off.... [/sarcasm] I thought about driving down to TJ to see a UANL game... But after how uncomfortable I was as an FCD fan at a Galaxy game, I decided maybe no to TJ... lol
Arsenal has an affiliation with Colorado which has more to do with Silent Stan when he first started buying into the club. To my knowledge, not much happens and I have only see one article about when the Rapids were in London to watch a match.
IIRC, it was worn at home one year when Chivas came in (want to say '08, but I've slept since then). The solid blue jersey, correct? BTW, the trophy was Plata de Rio Grande (Rio Grande Plate)?
We seem to have a new partnership with the Panamanian NT. I hear that our boys did well last night Blas continues kicking SS.
