1. We will be find at left back tonight. Parkhurst will probably go there. Probably, a few guys on BS who could get the job done tonight. 2. Hopefully, Johnson will be ready for Guatemala. 3. Given that JK has declared "the time for experimentation is over", I am surprised that Lichaj was not called in. I consider him a superior option to both Parkhurst and Castillo (who I am surprised is on the roster.) http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/st...g-includes-world-cup-qualifying-jeff-carlisle
I agree with this. I have said all along that we are in a transition period, and, so far, JK has not brought in enough younger players to make this transition smoothly. Who knows about Donovan and Dempsey for 2014, but I do think Dolo and Boca are probably going to be past their prime except for possible subbing in. I know BS members will say we have to play our strongest team, which I acknowledge, but we need some fast, new blood...like Fabian Johnson, and yes, Boyd (never have been sold on Altidore...shows me not much in US games). Shea held promise for a while, although not so fast. Then you have some of the under 23 squad who I thought were going to be included in the US squad. Just because the team did poorly, does not mean that some of the players were not good. I still do not believe that with all of the players in MLS and abroad that there are no other options than the same old players. I have a feeling this is going to be a difficult time for us. You cannot build a WC team with players over 30...they can be used as a backbone only.
I believe Parkhurst did play on the left a bit for the Revs. Didn't Nicol go thru some experimental phase with a 3-5-2 with Parkhurst on the left? In the grand scheme of things, this argument is silly. People are worried about the pace of Boca being on the left side of defense against Antigua and Barbuda..................when he's played left back at a much higher level than that for St. Etienne and Rennes. It's an option to consider. And since we're playing Antigua and Barbuda, he'd be more than good enough to do it. Parkhurst would probably be fine. Cameron, I guess, would be fine to play there.......although I've never seen him play as a left back. Hell, let's start without a left back & we'd probably be fine. It's our plan for Guatemala that I'm worried about. Hopefully Johnson can go.
That's my spot on my Over-40 team, we are undefeated this season. Though I have had to assume goalkeeping duties (my natural position) due to old man injuries. Kept a clean sheet last week with six saves. Timmy H., I giving you notice as well.
Three times in the league this season, once in Europa league qualifying, once in the league the year before that.
Wait, why the heck would we play a right-footed player who's marginal at best at his natural position out of position at left back? Especially when we have guy who's played left back in the EPL and Ligue? I'd sooner play Parkhurst at center back.
Can Corona play left back? It would cap tie him and he would be adept at getting forward. Is that crazy? The outside backs in JK's system are more wingers than backs. With a 6 to fall into the CB line fairly frequently and as quickly as JK wants the outside back to attack- it could be the attacking ability of Johnson and Castillo that we miss more than defensive ability... especially against a weaker side.
Parkhurst never played left back or even right back for that matter, for the Revs. He was center in a 3 back system. He has however played left back for his club and has much experience there. He will never hurt you there and I do not believe JK will take Boca out of the middle
Thanks. It's mostly a matter of knowing how to use google, but here it was a matter of bookmarking Football Lineups.
Schrutebuck doesn't fit into the squad so well. The red and white stripes will clash with his orange complexion.
I don't know! It's too complete to be a fly-by-night operation, but it's also too complete to be right about everything.
I get a real kick out of people the either never saw Parkhurst play in MLS or have forgotten. Parkhurst won the MLS Defender of the Year Award in 2007, the MLS Fair Play Award in 2007 and 2008, MLS best 11 in 2007. Contrast that to Gooch who is a foul waiting to happen and Cameron that was only a MLS All start in 2011. Eric Licha, the BS flavor of the month, has no awards, played one year of college soccer but was in the soccer residency program in Bradenton, Florida... as was Parkhurst Parkhurst is no slouch, has always been a winner at every level and has a far better pedigree than Cameron (both are from the New England region). People here give him no credit and certainly no respect. I really hope JK starts him tonight to silence his critics
not likely but what about Danny Williams at LB? granted, parkhurst should be the first choice but if Williams could play, i'd let him.
this was also about a month ago and for a minor shoulder injury... again, i don't see it as happening but i would like to see if it was possible.
parkhurst has the lowest mls foul rate of anyone when he was in mls this is AB, they'll play kick and chase quite a bit usa should possess the ball all night, and their fitness level should be that of the average amateur the back four should have little to do, now next tuesafday, it'll change but playing in tampa is good prep for central amerian weathetr
