Can anyone give a rough translation of this article. It seems to be about the USA/Mexico game in Dallas. I found it because of the photo, but I'm interested in article, too.

Mexico bites the dust a 6th time.

The public did not fail in it support by occupying 45,000 seats at the Cotton only to see them bite the dust a 6th time against their neighbors the USA..

The friendly only in name carries with it a long history of wins and losses in both world cup qualifiers and and past championships.

Bruce Arena the technical director for the US Mens’s National team stated to the press prior to the mach that there was no reason to worry about El Tri.

The Aztec squad did not find it’s futbol and at the last minute Ricardo Volpe started making changes in search of securing at least a tie. Bobby Convey crossed a ball to the Mexican goal that was headed by Taylor Twellman and knocked out by Osvaldo Sanchez and the ball fell at the feet of Eddie Pope who fired the ball into the back of the net.

Mexico’s most dangerous chance came in the 54th minute.

The match was played at an intense pace, with a lot of physical play which resulted in a match beyond the irregular abilities of Canadian referee Mauricion Navarro.

The referee missed two clear penalties one against Conor Casey and one in the second half committed by Johnny Walker gainst Omar Bravo.

In the last eight matches Uncle Sam’s boys have won 6 and have not allowed a goal, though Mexico has a historical advantage of 28 victories, 10 ties and 11 losses.

Here ya go Mr Andy Mean ;) :D

The fans didnt miss out on their national teams taking up 45k seats at the Cotton Bowl of Dallas Texas to witness how the Mexicans bite the dust for a six consecutive time against their neighbors the U.S..

The match which only has "friendly" as a name holds a history of victories, defeats with elimination and qualifications to championships between the two northern neighborns. Bruce Arena coach of the Yanks had allready decleared to the press "There's nothing to worry about against el Tri"

The Aztec squad couldnt find their football and in a last attempt by Riocardo Lavolpe bergan making substitutions looking for a draw that didnt result. The goal which was scored in the 93rd minute was not luck by the Yanks but a result of their constant visits to the Aztec goal posts whicj turned into the triumph in extra time..

Bobby Convey centered the ball that the recently subed in Taylor Twellman headed which Oswaldo Sanchez managed to block but the ball bounced in Eddie Popes Direction who taped it in for the goal..

Mexicos best chance at goal was at the 54th minute with Omar Bravo being fouled in the box by Johnny Walker and Borgetti missing a sitter..

A very physicall and hard fought match which resulted in a big match for the mediocre candian reff Mauricio something..

The reff didnt call two clear pk calls one for each side.. a fould by Dulio Davino on Conor Casey in the first half and the Johnny walker blatant foul on Omar Bravo in the second half..

The match up played infront of 45,048 fans served as a fundraiser for the USSF which will miss out on the Athen Olympics. The Mexican Nat team was kind enough to play the charity match in return the USSF will treat the Mexican nats to an all expenses paid trip to Wallys World.

The US is still greatfull for their fluke win in Kore Japan in 2002 and their U-23 was manhandled in the pre olympics.

    AFP

The US will beging their World Cup qualifiers with a home and away series against caribean powerhouse Grenada the 13th of June in Columbus Crew Stadium. The USMNT next friendly will be against Honduras tickets will be available based on consumers surname..

Did Bruce Arena REALLY say (presumably in English),

That is pretty volatile bulletin board material, and as such, out of character for Bruce who is VERY careful about what he says.

I found that quote rather peculiar, too, Karl.

My hunch (and that's all I've got, is just a hunch) is that maybe this Mexican media outlet might have been paraphrasing something Bruce Arena may or may not have said, or just might be taking liberties with the language.

Or it just might be an idiomatic turn of phrase that could have been lost in the translation.

But at this rate, anything's possible.

I thought most of Bruce's statements about this game had to do with it only being a friendly, so it wasn't something to get worked up about as if it were a qualifier. I don't think he intended any disrespect to the Mexican National Team.

    From a pre-game interview with the Star-Telegram (http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/8538991.htm?1c)
Is this match more than just a friendly match?
No, I don't think so. It is a friendly game. We play them almost on a regular basis. Obviously, because of the geographical proximity of the two countries it has become a bit of a rivalry, but it's a friendly game and we don't read into it much more than that.

And from a SoccerAmerica article (http://www.socceramerica.com/article.asp?Art_ID=562134501)

On whether the match against Mexico is more than just a friendly.

''No, I don't think so. It is a friendly game. We play them almost on a regular basis. Obviously, because of the geographical proximity of the two countries it has become a bit of a rivalry, but it's a friendly game and we don't read into it much more than that.''
