I can't pretend I am excited. This is more about me not believing in FSG anymore than it is about me being disappointed in the selection of BR. That said, I will give him my full support but my admiration he will have to earn.

I wish him good vibes and nothing but success.

FSG can go ******** themselves, they are the same as every other mofo corporate out there.

Interesting read from Roy at TAW:

For those of you watching on telly, Liverpool are the ones with the ball

"This is a good appointment, and having experienced something akin to mourning but a couple of weeks ago upon hearing the news of Kenny’s sacking, I’m happy to admit that, having thought things through, the club have gone with the bloke I wanted. Whether it’s through considered analysis and design is another matter… but even if they’ve stumbled on this solution, I think it’s the right one."

As a life long Red, I find this hiring somewhat intriguing. I see a similarity with Rafa at the onset.

I'll always remember how Rafa's best LFC teams pressed high and hard to get the ball back as quick as possible. Then use it properly. I think it's great that they are willing to give this guy a shot!

Right, I remember that, but I took the BBC report to mean that Rodgers was going to be in charge of personnel. Pat Murphy states: "I'm told there's going to be no director of football, and that was a stumbling block in the eyes of many contenders including Brendan Rodgers. He will go there as an old-style football manager without interference, in charge of football matters purely." No idea who Pat Murphy is, or if he has any credibility, and there's a bit of ambiguity in the statement, but it does sound contrary tot he Van Gaal/Segura/Rodgers story that was circulating earlier.

    Story here.

Truth. Don't think he had much left in him either way.

But he does have another year at 90,000 a week left, so there's that.

I wished him good luck and I think his appointment is better than going for Martinez.

And if he gets us playing attractive football that will be great.

Exactly. Who is Pat Murphy. Doubt FSG would completely change their plans. Find it hard to believe it will just be Rodgers and Ayre running things.

You can see what NESV are trying to do, and what Rodgers tries to bring. But I cannot shake the feeling that this is likely to go horrifically wrong or amazingly right. And I don't see the point in taking such a risk when far more reliable and impressive coaches could have been gotten.

You just wish NESV were accountable. If they get it right, they'll rightly be held as geniuses. If they get it wrong; you wish they would just ******** off.

Adam certainly doesn't fit his mold of player. Too wasteful, too slow.
Maxi may be given another lease on life at Anfield. Bellers fits the mold of the two wingers he had with the Swans and can be an impact 3rd option.
Downing may be able to adapt, but I'd not be surprised to see him go. I don't think Kuyt will be seen as possession oriented enough and will go. The same for Joey bighead Cole.
Could turn out very well for an Aquaman return. He and Lucas to keep things moving in the midfield?

Samarkand on the LFCNY site is hearing the GM and DoF roles are split into three - a "football knowledge" guy, a "negotiator" and a "stats guy". Van Gaal would be the football knowledge guy. These definitions and van Gaal's acceptance of and happiness with that type of role aren't at all clear to me. just passing along one of the latest rumors...

An Irishman bringing tippy tappy football to Liverpool. It'd fit Luis more than Andy, by the time the brain sends a message to his feet and untangles those daisy roots the moment may be long gone.

And like Kopite quipped, Carra is fucked.

Now could be the time then for "Why not Messi for Liverpool."

Rodgers has apparently worked with both Segura and Clarke. Interesting ...

On another note, good that we're now hearing of younger managers vying for the top jobs not the tired old names from the job exchanges such Curbishley, Bruce etc.

I like what I am reading about his philosophy... Tiki-taka @ Liverpool? Yes, please!

But still remain very skeptical in regards to whether he delivers.

They are absolutely accountable because it's their butts, I mean bucks on the line. The only way their business model works its if Liverpool is successful on the field. FSG are not a group of oil sheiks that blotto football club for a toy. This could be a very valuable business for them and they are serious, in my opinion, of making this venture successful one. Everything they've talked about makes me believe that they will only make decisions that are fiscally sound. They said in the past that they want to grow revenue and a variety of ways and again this can only be done on a consistent basis with success on the field.
If you think the manager or the head of football or whoever has a certain accountability well they do but the most they will loses their job. If FSG makes the wrong decision they lose their hard-earned cash which is why I think they took such a hard-line stance with Camolli and Kenny.
After reading a number of articles about our new manager I've become a little more upbeat about the coming season. One of my fears of not getting a well-known coach is that we will be unable to attract high-quality players of which we could certainly use a few. Hopefully he can get the most out of the players that we have here now. I think if Kenny did , we would've had a top four finish this year.

Oh I see, this is your attempt at humour? Sorry I was confused with your cliche picture.

My lack of belief in FSG stems form their actions and lack of follow through on commitments - talk the talk but not walking the walk if you like. I'm not a anti establishment hippie. I am a business owner on 3 continents and I understand my own corporate responsibilities; but I try to make sure my desire for control and growth does not overshadow the responsibility I have to the businesses I buy.
