No there isn`t, besides Liverpools next manager is an interesting football story, whichever English club you support. So that`s my excuse for sticking my oar in.

If Mourinho does join Liverpool after sending out so many signals to Chelsea that he`s joining them then expect chaos. Stevie G will be tapped up like you wouldn`t believe by Chelsea in revenge. Stick with trying to get Benitez, I doubted he would join you but I think it`s a possiblity, and he would be a great appointment.

    Interesting article:

    http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N144998040526-1323.htm

Mourhino says that he loved Liverpool in the 70's and 80's and he wants to be remembered like Shankly and Paisley.

He also said: "When my team are involved I don't care about image. Sometimes I make enemies because of my reaction, but when my players are under attack they are my family and I will protect them. When we played Manchester United this season, Alex Ferguson realised for the first time that United had lost their invincibility and I saw fear in his eyes. I think he was very disturbed. Afterwards I told my players, 'He was surprised by our quality. He thought it was easy for them to beat us but we beat them'.

That was great when he ran down the the sideline to celebrate with the team after the game winning goal against the Scum.

  3. Don't worry--I'm sure the Board has prepared for that contingency; in fact, I suspect it was one of the issues they tackled right away, and studied exhaustively before coming up with a solution.

Had me worried for a minute..:)

Hey RobB, I see you're a man of your word.....

Looks like I missed the cut off time of 1AM. I have it on really good authority, from my brother in law (Who is a cleaner in Liverpool's boardroom.) that the Liverpool board collect all the previous days posts from :-

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2573653#post2573653

So they can study, analyze in depth and make informed decisions on the future of the club.

    I love to help.

Joking about the idea of Stevie G leaving? You`re brave or foolish, Liverpool would be half the team without the man who is currently Englands best midfielder (or any other position for that matter). But then I suppose you could buy half a team with the money you could get for him. No, you need to keep him at all costs, so don`t poke Chelsea with a sharp stick by nicking their manager. It would be one hell of a coup though, worth the look on Kenyons face alone.

If you think they `study, analyze in depth and make informed decisions on the future of the club` from anywhere, let alone footy forums you haven`t been supporting Liverpool very long (Or a very, very long time, one or the other). Heskey £11m, Diouf £10m, Cheryou, Biscan etc. Selling a third of the club to shady Thais buisnessmen, sacking the manager then going on holiday to Barbados for two weeks. The clubs rudderless, you`d do aswell as Moore or Parry in running the place, but I`m sure you know that.

Now I've got the answer, USScouse give up your U-13s, come back to Merseyside, and lead the Reds to glory. Even the clueless agree. :D

Hey, I'd love to step up and lead the reds back to their former glory. BUT! I made a promise to a team of 13 year old br.. kids that I would lead them to glory this season. You have to keep a promise to a kid. And I'm a man of my word.
Plus, I think the mother of our holding mid is sweet on me...! (She's about the age of my daughter though.)

I wish this gormless brummie twat was a man of his word and piss of to the rivalries board. he'd find more his ilk there. His whiney trolling is as bad as his whiney accent.

The new manager might be, [or] The Liverpool board want him to be.

I'll wait until I see a photo of him, pen in hand, in the Liverpool boardroom.

The Liverpool Echo had the same story and it's still speculation.

Ah, the famous Scousers sense of humour, whatever happened to that by the way?

For those interested this site is good for news on Liverpool, they`re not usually to far wide of the mark.

Here's my only beef with waiting a fortnight or two: the sands of the offseason transfer market hourglass are still trickling during those times. Without a manager, we can't pick up quality that was interested in us like Mexes . . . oh wait, nevermind.

I just don't want to see another half dozen targets get snapped up by other clubs, and leave us holding our dicks because we don't want to finalize the manager contract until late June. Unacceptable. If the deal is done, get it done.

If Benitez is bringing players with him from Valencia, then we won't need any other singings. Who needs Mexes when we can bring in Ayala :)

  15. Agree. The only thing I've seen in the published reports that could possibly allay those worries is that Ayala and/or Aimar may be coming along to Anfield with Benitez.

Everyone recognizes that we need to add one high-quality player at striker, midfield, and defense. Cisse is still coming; the two mentioned above would fill one or both of the other needs.

But, of course, it's all pure speculation at this point . . . If it's to be Benitez, good; let's get it done.

I read one story about Cisse not coming until after July 1 and the re-opening of the transfer window.

That might be a reason not to worry about new transfers too much.

Not Hoddle. We need someone who can bring us back to the glory days

I read about Benitez joining Liverpool and about the anouncement next month. I also read about it in the Mirror.

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/sport...&headline=beni-agrees-kop-move-name_page.html

But seriously, can we believe all this news?????

I mean I'm excited and all but I just don't want to be disappointed when it's O'Neil or Curbishly.

I rather we wait for the announcement on the official website.

  18. Welcome, Melwood.

Good point: don't beleive everything you read--in the papers or here on BS. :)

Apparently the reason Ranieri hasn't been sacked is that Chelsea don't want to pay him the remaining 6 million pounds on his contract. They want him to resign so they don't have to pay him. They have treated him like garbage. Just give the poor man his money so he can find a new club.

Hilarious. Roman will pay millions on rotation players, but they won't buy out Ranieri's contract.

Meanwhile, this is really frustrating: http://www.itv-football.co.uk/News/story_111450.shtml

I heard that Benitez needs to give Valencia two weeks notice before he can be released from his contract. Parry's vacation would lineup with the two week waiting period for us to bring in Benitez. However, I have no idea if this is true.

    Thanks, and enjoy.
