Oh and China's right back should 100% be Zhang Linpeng if both Du Wei and Feng Xiaoting are available.

During the UAE match, Camacho preferred to start Chen Tao/Yu Hanchao over Deng Zhuoxiang. In the Iraqi first encounter, Deng was relegated to the bench. It seems Camacho prefers "dynamic players" compared to Deng's slow type of play, much like how he prefer Feng Renliang instead of Yu hai.

Huang Bowen seems to be a different type of player than Zhao Xuri. Zhao is more physical and Huang is more technical. It seems Camacho prefer a more physical DMF.

If this is the future of the national team, the next four years are going to be more of the same.

I think this list is pretty accurate, I'd add Yang Hao and Qu Bo to it. This list is incredibly depressing, because all of these players (maybe other than Qu) should be starting over the players Camacho is using and most were important, in some cases vital, under Gao.

I think your list of "young stars" is pretty suspect, few of them are really going to be stars and even fewer are ready for the national team. Bari definitely deserves a callup, but he's the only one on it who does right now. Unlike you, I have far less faith in the players playing abroad over those who I watch every week. I'm wondering how much you see them play to think they deserve a shot over, say, Dong Xuesheng or Zhu Jianrong?

It's absolutely depressing that the next time we will see China playing in competitive games will not be until 2015. If Camacho is really serious about building up the team, he'll dump all the players over 27 with the exception of Yang Zhi (though we should start seeing Zeng Cheng and Wang Dalei get some minutes) and make a return to Gao's youth policy. It should go back to how it was under Gao where nobody other than Yang Zhi was guaranteed their spot in the team and where the lineup is mixed up all the time until we find the starting XI that works.

So right now, what 23-man squad would you guys pick?

I think I'd go for something like this:

    GOALKEEPERS:
    Yang Zhi
    Zeng Cheng
Wang Dalei (Let him integrate himself in the group, make a few friends etc)

    DEFENDERS:
    Wu Xi
    Zhang Linpeng
    Feng Xiaoting
Du Wei (Mainly so that his experience will rub off on some of the younger dudes)
    Li Xuepeng
    Sun Xiang
    Zheng Zheng

    MIDFIELDERS:
    Zhao Xuri
    Huang Bowen
    Liu Jian
    Deng Zhuoxiang
    Zheng Zhi
    Chen Tao
    Yu Hai
    Feng Renliang
    Hao Junmin

    FORWARDS:
    Gao Lin
    Yang Xu
    Zhang Chengdong
    Yu Dabao

I am support with bringing more U-22 kids to the team, especially Wang Dalei and Wu Xi. I will be watching more CSL this season (since there aren't much Team China matches) so I will have more informed choice.

Mentioning formation, anyone think Camacho's double DMF formation is bad? During the Jordan match, the team played horribly during the first half. I do not know what change did Camacho made during half time, the second half the team passed more fluidly, with focus on long range passing.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the double DM formation, I think they should go for what Real Madrid have:

Lass/Coentrao/Khedira plays as the pure DM
Xabi Alonso is the centre midfielder who supports the strikers and provides long balls and deadly passes but is also has defensive capabilities
Ozil is an out and out attacking midfielder

Zhao Xuri in Khedira's role, Huang Bowen in Alonso's role, Chen Tao in Ozil's role.

    Could work.

I think the double DMF situation is because the central defenders are weak and the other two backs play as wing backs, constantly going up, so they need that support.

I don't want to see Wang Dalei in a national team shirt anytime soon, doing so would be making a big mistake. Yang Zhi's getting old, but Zeng is only 25 and he'll be the future NT keeper until someone better comes along or Wang seriously improves, right now he's not talented enough to be on the nt.

I'd also like to see more of the younger players coming up, but I'd prefer guys like Bari and Piao Cheng, and Zhang Xizhe to get a chance.

finally time to dig out this thread.
news about camacho's formation has been less, and still after a year in tenure, i am not sure what exactly did camacho bring to team china's table.

did camacho discover a gem like the former coach did?
(the news said gao hongbo discovered deng zhuoxiang, yu hai, and hao junmin; and arie haan from many years ago discovered zheng zhi)

    anyway --- strategy time.
for china vs. spain, i think we will play a pretty defensive formation.
we would play most likely 4-2-3-1, or even rare, the 4-3-2-1 christmas tree formation.
based on the newest 23 players, i think the following might happen.

    zeng cheng
liu jianye - feng xiaoting - zhang linpeng - sun xiang
    zhao xuri - qin sheng
hao junmin - zheng zhi - feng renliang
    gao lin

i am not sure if camacho would start all seven evergrande players.
    what do you all think?

Camacho has brought nothing to the table, he's discovered nobody, and his tenure has basically been a disaster. Why he still insists on playing Zheng Zhi, I cannot for the life of me understand.

Why he'd play Zhang Linpeng as a central defender is beyond me. I'd hope that he puts Yu Yang in that position as the only other option is Zhou Peng.
