This is the peril of playing soccer in such a large country. The entire population is spread out so wide, that every soccer fan can't go to every single game. We have to make each move count.

People need to get over the fact that "it's just Antigua", and sell the fact that this is the launch of our World Cup qualification.

BTW: I am buying my ticket today, and forgoing the Scotland match in Jacksonville.

Pretty much. fans and supporters should realize that yes the HEX games are more sexy but these games are just as important. We only get eight home games each qualifying cycle. That's it. If we don't show up for even one of them then that's pretty lame.

I still think we'll be pushing 20k on actual game day, but at this rate I'm definitely concerned.

I keep forgetting who exactly the USMNT will be playing against at Ray Jay Stadium, but then I remember that we'll be playing against ANTIGUA BARRACUDA FC. :p

That's funny. They have the first half of June off in USL Pro, too.

Then they'll be in Charleston on the 15th, and back in Orlando on the 17th. :p

I've yet to see ANY advertisement of any shape or form here locally from the USSF or any other entity. The only way I knew about this WCQ was through the initial announcement.

    Bingo! We have a winner!

I have to say that there is no marketing of this event at all. In all honesty, not sure what crowd to expect with marketing but I would say 15,000 would be respectable. The game counts, it isn't a friendly, no matter who the opponent is, seems like the USNT could draw that many.

The other problem besides no marketing is frankly the ticket prices. We are playing a minnow, how about some cheap seats? This isn't a cash cow, just put some buts in the seats.

I agree about ticket prices. Raymond James Stadium has a capacity of 65K,the US Federation should of considered the fact that we're playing a minnow and lowered the ticket prices.

yeah everyone is going to get on Tampa's case about this. But ticket prices are high, there is NO marketing going on about this game and even American Outlaws seem more excited about other qualifiers in this round than the one in Tampa.

It's a shame and I hope the USSF doesn't forget its own role in any poor attendance that we might see when they look at possible venues for HEX games

Looks like nobody wants to see Antigua or the USA.

I think the federation should consider Jacksonville for another WCQ or friendly. The Scotland friendly has sold 28K tickets.

Probably not unless I can somehow get that day off from work. Which isn't likely.

If this game draws over 12k, it should be labeled a big success.

Yep, I was at THAT game.

But, Ecuador and Colombia are two different countries. It is the USA v Colombia game WSW mentions.

Granted in 1717 they were both part of the Viceroyalty of New Granada. ;)
