Michael Laudrup seems to be the new name on the list. http://www.kopsource.com/laudrup-linked-with-liverpool-job/
At least he has a track record of successfully doing what we need done. We need a complete rebuild from the top down.
I saw that. Good points, but they have cash to spend now and appear to be doing that. FSG aren't shy about pumping money into their teams. Change isn't always bad. We'll see if its for the better.
John Barnes gave his backing for AVB. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...elcome-andre-villas-boas-at-liverpool?cc=5901
This manager thingy, or lack thereof. Could get even more fun if Abramovich doesn't promote his temporary guy, Roberto di Matteo. He was a huge fan of Guus but Guus turned him down. Rumour has it that since Guus found that horses head in his bed he may reconsider. If not, it's a sellers market. Hope Grinners has his CV out there.
Arsene Wenger anyone? Great at getting third or fourth and not winning anything. Thats what we want right?!
This. Is anyone shocked, SHOCKED, that there hasn't been an OMG MAJOR REVELATION about LFC when there's actual football news to report? No one with half a brain is laughing at us. They understand that a lull in the news cycle is unacceptable and we happen to be a juicy headline fodder.
Wenger has done well, to be fair. If you're selling two or three of your best players every year, you cannot expect much more can you? Look what happened to us when we lost our top performers ...
Your post seemed a pretty accurate summary of the Arsenal way in the last five years, but was it the Arsenal way before that? Dein left Arsenal in 2007; they'd been pretty successful before that.
I think most of these names are simply the case of 2 + 2 = 22. Good young manager? He must be a target
It is starting to feel like last summer when we were linked with every player you could possibly imagine. In this case, if said manager is under what? 45? we must be thinking about him.

Two cents worth: Lest we get too caught up in pedigree and such, it's instructive to remember that before Arsenal, Wenger was coaching Nagoya Grampus Eight of the barely 5-year-old J.League, and before ManU, SARN was managing one of the irrelevant SPL clubs, and Harry Redknapp hadn't done jack shit prior to taking Spurs to Champions League.
Your point is fine but your examples are cack. 1) Wenger coached Monaco before Arsenal and had won the league and the cup. 2) Ferguson is the last person to coach a team other than Celtic or Rangers to the league title. Also won the Scottish cup and league cup. His Aberdeen team then beat Real Madrid on the way to a European Cup Winners Cup. 3) Redknapp has had a very long and weird career. He had done well with Pompey and when Tottenham signed him they were no where close to demanding a high caliber coach - which they hired twice and failed (Jol and Ramos). And Tottenham shouldn't be mentioned alongside a club like ours or United in terms of history or expectations.
Already turned it down. Says he can't leave Ajax 18 months in. He's going to manage Barca in a few seasons. I don't blame him for waiting.
Ok the unverse is AVB, Rafa, and Martinez I want Rafa, would be mildly happy with AVB, and grudgingly and slowly accept Martinez.
Then hire the man who gives money to the Justice campaign and raises money for Wirral charities. Seems a no brainer really.
Journos don't like AVB for the same reason most of them didn't like Kenny. And everyone at Chelsea with a minor qualm about him is going to air it, because that's what happens when managers fail. The knives come out. If he can connect to players (did at Porto, didn't at Chelsea) the rest is irrelevant. But we are starting to run a bit on attractive options. Would like to see FSG look to some more inspired choices, someone like Rudi Garcia or a national team manager like Loew or Blanc.
Not buying it. They spent 30m hiring and firing AVB. I'm sure they did all they could to make it work. If he was able to get people on his side at the club, he'd probably be still be there. There is plenty of evidence to suggest he was/is a grade A prick. Perhaps he got all billy big boots at Chelsea and still had something to prove at Porto. Perhaps he was a prick because he was really insecure and was covering up. But to be a prick to low end staff is unacceptable in my mind and speaks to his character. He may be tactically astute, but i'm not sure that's the type of man we need.
