the video game episode took me forever to get through. i had to keep hitting reverse because i was continuously missing things from laughter.

what a great 2 hours of tv (30 rock sandwiched in between the community ep's was great as well).

For better or worse, I was doing the same. I had to be able to read all of the screens and menus.

    Well that's it then!

Don't really see the point of renewing the show if they were going to axe Harmon...

They also got rid of most of the writers. Things don't look good.

Did the show's renewal end up being a Pyrrhic victory? :(

Seems like it. Very odd decision to let it return without the people who made it what it was...

Cast responses from Twitter, not surprisingly all seem to be in Harmon's corner.

It does beg the question: is having a season 4 just a cynical decision to qualify for syndication? It does seem that way with Harmon getting his brainchild snatched from his arms.

Though wouldn't a 13-episode season still leave them three episodes short to reach the 88-mark?

I know we live in an age where we fetishize show runners, but is there another show runner whose personality and style are so tied to those of the show?

Close, but I feel like another hyper-detail oriented dictator type could do the same 'Mad Men', while I can see Harmon in the show itself.

"Deadwood" without Milch and "The Wire" without Simon are two others, though I assume you meant shows that are still active?

What I don't understand is why his successors would want to gulp from that particular poisoned chalice. They can only fail. Not only are they in a Friday night death-slot, the core fans of that show are so married to Harmon that they will not even be able to count on the existing audience to stick around. I believe their most high-profile previous gig was "Just shoot me"... Erm...
