VS Game: Columbus Crew vs FC Dallas Date: Saturday, May 12th Time: 6:30 PM [CST] Location: Columbus Crew Stadium, Columbus, Ohio, United States of America Weather Forecast: Partly Cloudy; H 75; L 55 Competition: Major League Soccer TV: Fox Sports Southwest [Local]; Direct Kick [Out of Market] Radio: KFLC 1270 La Voz del Pueblo Last Result for Opponent: Drew 0-0 at Portland last weekend. Record of Opponent: 2-4-2 Last 5 for Opponent: T-L-T-L-L Well, if we want a game we can collectively get together and turn this around, this is it. Columbus is no better off than we are at this point. It won't be easy by any stretch (I can't remember the last positive result we had at Crew Stadium) but I think a win is imperative at this point. Perez will be itching to get back and hopefully Hernandez will see the bench.
We can't score goals - at home or away. I am going to assume this is going to be one ugly soccer game and hope I am wrong. Perez being back will help but if Brek Shea does not play, we will never be able to get Perez the ball or any help up front. Any time I see a team play with one forward - all it tells me is that: a. They have only 1 forward with any discernible talent. b. They are a crappy team playing for a 0-0 tie. c. Team did a poor job bringing in / cultivating attacking players. Have we not had a Technical Director for 2 years? It is going be a long and slow year.
Whats even sadder is we had those players and gave them away. A lot of whats wrong would look a lot better with Avila, Dax, Alexander and Chavez.
Agree with your post but was also pleasantly surprised at the number of chances created against Seattle by Castillo and Benitez. If we create those same chances with Blas in the lineup, I think we notch 1 or 2 this weekend. Of course, those two players are also our most inconsistent so who the hell really knows? Hard to stay optimistic as we wait on people to heal, then get back to game fitness and speed...can we hang on and still have a chance once our preferred lineup is back available? Will our preferred lineup EVER be back available?
Agreed. I'm usually not one to cry over spilled milk but losing Dax, (and to a lesser extent) Harris & Pearce from that 2010 team was head scratching. Then add Chavez to the list this year. I mean when you have something that obviously worked, why mess with it? There had to be other ways to take care of that expansion draft. Very frustrating.
Being ever the optimist, I think Dallas will find their scoring touch tonight. Although that won't mean we're out of the woods yet. A win here will give the team some good vibes so i'm going for that.
A little pregame reading for anyone who wants to kill some time http://www.bigdsoccer.com/2012/5/12/3016609/matchday-12-fc-dallas-at-columbus-crew
so castillo misses a sitter and then immediatly limps and gives the hand sign for substitution... ... as of the 11th minute... ******** that guy... ********ING PLAY!!!!
I can't watch the game currently, but I am following highlights. Were all these cards deserved? How are we looking?
Dear Baby Jesus, Please give the refs the power to call a game consistantly.... or at least not always against my team.. Sincerely, Ivan
You know, I'm sick and ********ing tired of refs' deciding to be hanging judges when an FCD player does something dodgy and forgetting where their cards and whistles are when our guy is getting cleaned out. I'm also tired of Baldomero Toledo ********ing us like he ********ed us in MLS Cup.
Luna might be useful if our dumb ass coach kept him on the field. WTF Schellas? From the players to the coaching staff this organization has turned into the Kings of Stupid Shit.
So a player who should have got a straight red scores the tying goal, then almost immediately after puts in a foul that should have got a second yellow card, yet remains on the pitch. How Toledo remains employed is beyond me.
Red rain indeed. Sobering to think that when you look at the west standing we could be dead last when the games even out. But hey sportsclubstats says we have a 12.5% chance of making the playoffs so we got that going for us. At least Castillo's goal was pretty great.
Complain about inconsistent officiating all you want but it doesn't change the fact we just played 3 games in a week and scored one goal. At least it was from the run of play I guess. Zach's second was iffy but it is what it is. I was happy with the # of chances we generated vs. Seattle and were unlucky not to be up 1-0 before Seattle scored. This game, other than the goal, FCD really did not generate many scoring changes at all, and you lose when that happens. Bottom line this team is not very good right now. We play 2 defensive midfielders (perhaps due to injury) and don't have any creative central players. Desperately need Villar back, not to mention DF10. I just hope when Villar/DF10 are back SH doesn't make them the 2nd forward and put Castillo on the wing and bench Jackson. Leave Castillo up top, Shea on left, Jackson on right, Villar or DF10 in CAM and sit Jacobson who may be slightly more of an offensive player than Daniel Hernandez but that still makes him a defenseive midfielder. Bottom line we need more creative players on the field and especially in the middle and when Villar/DF10 are ready to go I would not take an offensive player off to get them on the pitch. Though I am 1000% certain that is what Hyndman will do. Luna is most usefull when he is left on the bench, or even off it.
The upside is that with all these suspensions (And does anyone think that the DisCo is NOT going to give Shea a game's suspension?), the guys will be more rested for golf in October instead of the playoffs.
You think this current run of shithouse results lights a fire under Hyndman's ass? Or does Coach For Life get a pass to Zen Coast through it all?
