Nearly a quarter of the season is over. With WC qualifying, Olympics, and Euro cup this summer too - lets not forget. I think Los Angeles (in general) is notoriously guilty for thinking our teams can just "turn it on." Without big changes, I think this season and the CCL are a long shot at best. I think it's time to start rolling heads in the front office, because the failure starts at the top down.
Way too early. Bruce Arena just won us a cup last year, and we've played 9 games, with 26 remaining, not including CCL. I'm advocating change, not cleaning house, because it's just too early. Panic button is pushed, but the reaction to it shouldn't be to nuke bomb the team. How about first we just try some changes to tactics? We have the personnel to do it. That's not "turning it on" that's changing things up.
I think it's definitely time to say everyone on the team has to earn their playing time. Too many under performing veterans with no fire right now. Right now our finishing is atrocious, so I wouldn't hesitate to sit Keane and Buddle and experiment with say, Sarvas and Donovan playing up top. I know that sounds goofy, but really, what worse can happen? Our finishing has been terrible all year, and it might have something to do with the fact that Keane and Buddle are big-ticket players that are pretty much guaranteed starting roles because of their salaries and notoriety. That might need to change.
Hee! You know what's kinda funny though? The Galaxy themselves kinda sorta did hit the panic button. Not in terms of firings or anything, but the team realized where they were heading, and hit the button. Maybe it was panic light, but thank god they changed.
