That looked over the line initially but not all of it went over. Why couldn't we play like this in the first half?
This loss is on Kenny I'm afraid. Don't know why we couldn't play like that in the first half. Why is Kuyt on the bench in our most important match of the year? Why is Carroll not starting when thats the kind of player Chelsea struggled against all year? What about Maxi?
Because Kenny put out a crap team in the first half. I don't know about most people on here but I was shocked when Carroll didn't start. Idiotic to play Suarez up front alone against the defense that held Barcelona. And on top of that not to put him on at halftime when it was clear that this team was not going to get it done!?!?!? Idiotic. This one is on Kenny IMO.
Kenny is still the King AND he got it wrong today. Jay Spearing is a squad player at best for a club like Liverpool. Starting him was a mistake. Carroll gave them fits and freed up Suarez to do his thing. Both should have started. Henderson is far from the finished product. They overpaid for him big time. Downing is a mystery to me. Dirk should have come on at 60 minutes for Downing---or better yet he should have started. Credit to Chelsea for taking their chances and holding on at the end. The way Drogba plays football though disgusts me. I'm beginning to wonder if watching footy is healthy for me. A bit surprised the cops didn't show up. Walk on.
Congrats to Chelsea, no sour grapes, ball was not over the line. A Russian linesman might have helped. Much better second half performance from the Reds, not sure why they couldn't play like that from the beginning. Stay classy Reds fans, congratulate your opponent and move onto next season. Notice during injury time with Chelsea seconds away from winning the cup -- all you could hear was YNWA. Fantastic fans for the greatest team in the world. Onward and upward.
Every time we beat Everton in the semis we have lost the final -- 1950, 1971, 1977, 2012 -- every time ended in a loss
1. Simple fact is Kenny started with a bad team. 2. At halftime it was crystal clear that this 11 was not working. It was clear earlier in the half IMO. 3. Kenny refused to make changes. That is his fault. 4. The refusal to make changes allowed the same failing 11 to go out there and get scored on again. That second goal was the death knell. 5. Complaining about the players we purchased doesn't really affect anything. Window has been closed since January. There is nothing we can do. We got to the FA Cup final and the League Cup final with these players, we should have been able to win with these players. I mean we beat Chelsea AWAY twice this season and Maxi scored in both of those games.......... yet he doesnt see the field in this one.
No hard feelings, mate. Good final and hopefully both of our teams will do better next season. At least both of us have won cups this year (more than one of either City or United fans will be able to say in a few weeks )
Well said. Incredibly disappointing. We really took the game to them the last 30 minutes and came so close. Carroll was brilliant. He completely turned the game around, won everything in the air and didn't lose the ball. I wish he had gone for the rebound instead of celebrating. Ivanovic stopped playing and Carroll could have got there first. He truly thought it was in though. And what a brilliant little ball from Suarez. Its easy to blame it on Kenny after the fact. I did not have a problem with the teamsheet initially, and most of the "experts" on twitter thought that Kenny had the team correct. Suarez recently scored a brilliant hat trick with Gerrard playing right behind him. In theory, the pace of Bellamy and and Downing supporting him would have been a potent attack. Having Carroll come on as a substitute turned out to be an effective strategy and we were less than an inch away from completing the comeback. Congrats to Chelsea. They were the better team over the full 90 minutes. Although the team with the most spending power in Europe has once again held on for a result by using the same strategy as Stoke City.
