Michael Cox: Fabregas still learning positional sense at Barcelona Sid Lowe: Pep not ready to hoist white flag against Chelsea
Somehow I missed this great look back piece by Sid Lowe: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2012/mar/28/barcelona-milan-champions-league-1994 As always, particularly when we play big matches against an English opponent, there are a ton more stories on the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/barcelona
What hubris the Cruyff sides had. Johan, Stoitchkov, Romario... those guys showed an arrogance you just don't see in the current team. Not to say we can't get complacent, as well. Good historical lesson.
Anybody knows where I can find/download the first 20 minutes (or the first half) of the CL quarterfinal (1st leg) game played between Arsenal vs Barcelona on March 31, 2010 at the Emirates? The game ended 2-2. I don't want the entire game because the HD file is too large (over 2GB) and I don't have a video editing software to cut the file in half. I just want the first 20 or so minutes because that's the best football I've seen on an English pitch in HD. Thanks in advance to anybody who can help.
Some interesting reading from the Guardian, Sid Lowe penned the first one, the best take-away from this past 7 days would be that now Pep renews and the team has something more to fight for - to get back on top (not that they have fallen terribly far). http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/apr/25/barcelona-pep-guardiola-chelsea http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/...a-barcelona-lionel-messi?INTCMP=ILCNETTXT3487 http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/...-pep-guardiola-barcelona?INTCMP=ILCNETTXT3487 http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/...-chelsea-champions-league-live-mbm?intcmp=239
That Sid Lowe article on Pep is great (the first link). I thought it would be dumb based on the headlines, but I shouldn't doubt Sid Lowe.
Wait, is there actually a chance that Guardiola steps down? I am not a Barcelona fan but what the team has accomplished with him at their side is beyond incredible.
Good article by Mr. Hunter and a decent analysis by 4 talking heads about the semifinals all in one link (you can pause or mute the latter and just read but I enjoyed both): http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/st...barcelona-real-madrid-champions-league-losses Fingers crossed that Pep renews again.
Yeah well that wont happen. He just stepped down. For me he is GONE, thank you for everything, but don't come back and expect us to wait you with open arms, also wherever you will work....i dont care Lack of motivation - I wonder how would people react if Messi tomorrow decides he has lack of motivation in Barcelona and wants to go to another club
Don't be so bitter. I would welcome him back, no doubt about that. He's been the best we've had, not only as a coach, but as a person. As someone that was born into the club he has given more than anyone ever could. The love he holds for Barça is incomparable. He's made his official statement in the press conference. You can still follow it here, in Catalan - http://www.fcbarcelona.cat/futbol/primer-equip/detall/noticia/roda-de-premsa-en-directe Tito has been announced as the new coach. I am giving him my whole support. I think he has been very influential, working side by side. Visca el Barça, Visca en Pep!!!
Are you out of your mind. That kind of thing belongs in the Real Madrid or Manchester Utd forum. He's going to be welcomed back anytime, by the next coach, by the players, by fans worldwide, not to mention the city of Barcelona. The guy won as many European Cups/CLs as Ferguson, beating Ferguson twice in CL finals, in 4 years instead of 26.
13 titles as a coach in 4 years + 16 titles as players! He won CL and la liga both as player and coach Also won Olympic and Mourinho and Ferguson never did this [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8dg1GDXUzo"]Pep Guardiola - Top 3 goals - YouTube[/ame]
get off it coaches get discarted much quicker than players, usually the first head to roll, so I have no issue with him deciding to go if he felt burnout Messi can go to if he wants, he isnt why I support the club
Pep is a club legend..you are acting like a 10 year old with these sort of comments. I would gladly have him back. Messi said he lacked motivation and wants to leave? Seeya Messi, you have been a great player and a club legend, all the best where ever you end up going. Seeya, you will be missed but what can we do. Bye.

Can't remember where it was discussed, but I'll post this here.... wow, these just look BAD.... possible away...
Messi will pay the medical expenses for Waleed Kashash, a 12-year-old Moroccan boy suffering from the same hormone-deficiency disorder Leo had as a child. He's offered to cover Kashash's medical bills until his 18th birthday, a tab that could run between $40,000 and $50,000. Waleed isn't a soccer prodigy, just a kid whose parents don't have the means to ensure him a fuller life. In steps Messi... Not to outdone, Cristiano Ronaldo announced an offer to pay the expenses of a child suffering from his own disorder. The kid will receive weekly injections to inflate his ego. These will be administered via douche.
Not a Barca article but an interesting story about how the Champion's League came about: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/16/sports/soccer/16iht-soccer16.html?ref=soccer
