I was not saying Nani was good. I've criticized him in this very thread. I'm saying as a player helping us keep possession and attack, he was clearly miles better than Giggs and Park. Park's running with Toure has nothing to do with him falling over every time he gets challenged. Maybe it does, but I was not talking about overall contribution - I was explaining why Rooney was looking for Nani and not fall down park or Giggs.
Say it every year, we havent played 433/451 enough again this year and when we need this system we are unfamiliar with it. Evra is poor again, we desperately need a defensive left-back for these types of games. Smalling very poor on their goal, big ask of him and he was found wanting. If we can keep it to 1 then we still have a great chance of a draw or win later on. If they score next it will game over.
This trophyless season is all on Fergie's shoulders and his moronic decisions time after time. He clearly ********ed up the champions league, did the same in the europa and put all his egss in the EPL only to let his arrogance overcome what was the mission. Oh and Rafael and his silliness is seemingly gonna bite us in the ass finally.
I would argue the opposite, that effectiveness in possession is much less important than effectiveness in pressing given that Fergie set out with a 4-5-1 with a CL away game approach.
I could not give a rats ass what you think is effective, the point I made was explaining (for the last time) was why Rooney was looking for Nani so often. That is simply because Nani has been better on the ball in the Citeh half. That's all. Shit.
How can you say Evra has been poor in a half where he is playing against two men on his own for the majority of the time? He is not superman. I didn't want him to feature in this game, but credit where it is due, he has done really well considering the support he has had. He's made numerous key blocks and clearances and made smart decisions on whom to go to whilst isolated and looking down the double-barrel of a shotgun. Even as I type, Giggs is nowhere to be seen out on the left flank and Evra is going it alone and doing well.
I hope I'm wrong, but I don't feel as though this is the type of game in which Danny will thrive. Maybe Rooney will get a bit of time on the ball and that will help things, but I don't see Danny being the one change we need. Valencia would be a better first sub as he'd help us more with momentum.
We have been average all year, nothing new here. Why play Park Ji Sung because he has been shit all season.
