What's this I saw mentioned in the quote from Merz on the roster thread? Vargas has a beef about something? It says it's not about Arietta but they did play together at Saprissa...

Say's he wasn't happy with the club (Saprissa not Crew) but that it had nothing to do with Arrieta they are on friendly terms.

He'll score then get subbed out, just like the rest of our forwards.

    EDIT:

I implied our forwards score. My apologies.

He is a bit of a hot head, and he got ejected from his last game for two yellows. From reading some tweets from Saprissa fans they seem happy that he is leaving. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45GCEml5s9w"]www.everardoherrera.com Jairo Arrieta expulsado - YouTube[/ame]

I know I saw a picture where he got a cut on the face from that guys cleats.

I think it should be said that Renteria is in the last year of his contract.

If ge can finish thats all we need.

and besides, every team needs someone to mix it up. Like a Luis Suarez.

    Welcome to Cbus!

Does RW have a hard-on for 'strength?'

Stop me if I'm wrong but Messi doesn't strike me (no pun intended) as the strongest guy on the field. Your best forwards and midfielders are the quick ones with the darting eyes, no?

More than one way to be effective. Alan Shearer did just fine being a strong #9 up top. Didier Drogba seems to be doing just fine.

Messi started out as a wide player. And to be honest, Barca should have moved him wide against Chelsea with the middle packed.

Similarly, while we need scoring up top, we sure could use a wide player who was quick with good control and could beat people off the dribble and create chances.

Does setting up the corner flag and touchline count? ;)

Not to make excuses ('cause I'm really not), but Barca's formation and Messi's role would have been different were David Villa not injured.

Absolutely true, but either way European referees will NOT let you spend 90 minutes knocking Messi down and kicking him in the head.

MLS referees would have let Messi get crippled by now. The crap they let go is appalling.

So the comparisons everyone is making are not relevant. It's why speed is not such a big thing in MLS: because you can't outrun anybody when you're on your ass.

Depends if you are talking about Chulis tugging a shirt or Moreno breaking a nose. Or if you want apples to apples, Ruiz PKs in a Galaxy jersey versus Ruiz PKs in a Burn/FC/Hoops/96ers/whatever jersey.

At the sub-DP level, this league is becoming about signings effectively being in-season trialists.

Throwing volume up against the wall and seeing what sticks.

Between loans and non-guaranteed contracts, it's all about bet-hedging.

If one of Vargas/Renteria/Arrieta can prove himself and stick as a partner to the DP attacker, that's good. More will be shipped in next year, regardless.

League-wide, the international revolving door is flying off its hinges, and that's a good thing because it sorts wheat from chaff in half a season, without so many scrubs or stylistic mismatches being signed to guaranteed money.

Maybe, but I've always been impressed with Messi's ability to hold off defenders. I wouldn't say he's the strongest out there, but he's no slouch for being slight either.

Been wanting to ask, how has Olman Vargas worked out for you guys? He played for my team CS Herediano and we loved him the time he was here, how's he doing with you guys?

Vargas has duffed a couple of clear chances, only he can be blamed for that.

That one where he and Schoenfeld went 0/4 in SOG/G last week? Yeah, I'm saying I could have put that one in.
